US hails Cambodia as loyal ally against terror

PHNOM PENH (AFP) - The United States hailed Cambodia as a steadfast ally in the "war on terror," saying the impoverished country had worked hard to root out militancy since the September 11 attacks in 2001.

"Over the past five years Cambodia has made great strides in securing its borders and rooting out terrorists that seek to use this country as a base of operations," US Ambassador Joseph Mussomeli said in a statement.

"We are honored to count Cambodia as a steadfast ally in this struggle," he said.

A Cambodian and two Thai Muslims were sentenced to life in prison in 2004 for plotting attacks against Western targets in Cambodia.

The three were seized the year before with an Egyptian, and were all part of what authorities called a radical Islamic network.

The Egyptian was later freed but another Egyptian and a Malaysian were sentenced in absentia to life for terror-related crimes.

Cambodia has a sizable Muslim community in which authorities fear Islamic militants can seek refuge, taking advantage of the country's porous borders and weak policing.

Hambali, allegedly a key member of the Al-Qaeda-linked Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) extremist network, reportedly spent several months in Cambodia before he was captured in Thailand in 2003.

He has been in US custody since then and is among 14 top militants the United States announced had been transferred to the US prison camp at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.

More power to the current Government and I sence positive connection from The North. Am I right?

Let's direct our thoughts to The North Korea and The war against Communism. It sure sound over power to the suffering of our people under the current Government, but it probably doesn't mean much at this time.

If we can reason everything else out, we try to understand the best we can and I respect that Mr. Embassador had good will and intention for our people. Just so that Mr. Current Government sees it clearly and respond positively to the problem that exist in our country today. Justice, peace and freedom will prevail in the end! God bless the world!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, the war on terrorism is huge!
If America is to die and take over by the terrorist, we all can expect to see the great darkness that the world can never imagine possible.

This is Mr. Embassador's mission and The US interest in our land. He is here to protect and defend all that from happening. It's the best thing that can happen to the world, most people just don't really see it.

I'm with The Red, white and Blue flag of The united States of America. Even if I hate The Viet to the bone! I don't want the same thing as to the Indian and The Pakistani. I have faith and always.

The U.S Ambassador in Cambodia is now on board as well, supporting the Hanoi-Hun Sen regime to Vietnamize Cambodia? So, who says the U.S. would not honor Kissinger's word in the PARIS' accord? No wonder why the 16th street resident can't even move a muscle without first checking with the boss on "R" street! What's next Mr. Ambassador? But please just keep looking the other way while HANOI is changing the history of CAMBODIA...Thanks a LOT Mr. Ambassador! (*shaking head speechlessly*)

This is the statement of Mr. Ambassador in his own words "Over the past five years Cambodia has made great strides in securing its borders and rooting out terrorists that seek to use this country as a base of operations," US Ambassador Joseph Mussomeli said in a statement"

Securing what border? Cambodia can't even protect its border from the Vietcong! The Vietcong continue to plant illegal border markers on Cambodian soil! The action of the Vietcong is nothing more than a terrorist act that threaten peace and stability ! The United States will continue to play a role by honor these Vietcong's action by redraw Cambodian map to please the Vietcong for the world map! The redraw of Cambodian map had been done in the 1960 and 1970! The history is repeating itself again! Did the Vietcong have peace with Cambodia back then? Of course not! There must be a limit to what the Vietcong can claim on Cambodia!

The Vietcong are planting the seed of destruction for Cambodia and Cambodian people! As long as Cambodia exist as a nation, the Vietcong will never have peace!

Free the Khmer Krom now!

If nonething gains for US interest, forget about Cambodia problem. Not like too many Khmer republicans who are strongly believe US republican party can help Cambodia to get rid of Hun Sen. Most of them voted for Bush, but 7 years later Cambodia is still the same and Ark Kvak gets more stronger, Thanks for world bank and US support to make sure Arh Kvak is in power. US built a new beautiful home in PP. Do you think US spent a lot of money to put a new home in PP for a short term? The US and Arh Kvak are partners, my friend. The US has tied very strongly with Arh Youn. So do you think the US cares about Cambodia? I don't believe any party in the US will be good for Cambodia anymore. I won't place my vote for neither of them for next election. Cambodia now vietnamized by Arh Youn; even, some Cambodia farmers wear Doun. You can touch Arh Youn in Srok Khmer because Arh Kvak will go after Arh Khmer and because Arh Kvak and Arh Sihanoukist don't know shit about Arh Khmer. They treat Koun Khmer like Koun Youn. Both of them work for Arh Youn. Arh nouk helps Arh Ho chi minh wins the war and help Arh Chen destroyed Arh koun Khmer. Both are guilty and should send them to haven.

Most Cambodian living in The United State voted for President Bush for his second term for two reasons:

1. The US was in great danger during the 9/11 terrorists attacked of The twin Towers in New York, The Pentagon in Washington DC and some areas in Pennsylvania.

As her true citizens, we went for strong protection and patriotism under Mr.Bush.

2. Republican president always talk about freedom, free world, free and better society. We Cambodian know exactly what it means to live under the Communist regime or close society. The Democratic party just did not cut the Military Might and the conservative thoughts of our people. They weren't bad. In fact, The Democratic Party cared most about the wellfare of the American people and other people who lives up there more than the Republican. President Clinton of the Democratic Party made millions of the American became a millionaire under his term. The economic growth was superb and very attractive.

9/11 seemed different, making The democratic party looking naiive and less protective of the American society and its people. Suddenly making millions and becoming rich didn't mean much anymore.

These were the two most influencial reasons.

Mr. Bush sacrified many many of American jobs to oversea or to country like China in exchange for a better world tomorrow. President Bush wanted to create freedom and democracy for the whole world to live in and for all the people on this planet earth to enjoy thier lives. His vision is Just too great to ignore. The result more than 50% of the votes were on President Bush's Party and He won.

Most of the The world did not like it, but most of the American do including us Cambodian people living in the US. That could change in 2008. The American doesn't sit on one spot and let it grow mold.

We also hope that Mr. Embassador won't forget who the Veitcong and their people are and remember why he starts his journey to Cambodia and the Southeast Asian Nations in the first place. We should be o.k.

See what the American are taking in? and go with the flow for now.

Anonymous 12:32 PM, if your Bush and Clinton so smart why are they trying to use India and Vietnam to contain China NOW? First it was Jap in US that were put the concentrate camps, then Asian communists, then South America communists camp Le June, then Muslims, next it will be Iran, Syria, China terrorists. It will time that you, Cambodian-Chinese will be beatten by homeland law just as what they did to muslims in Guantanemo Bay. Don't forget during Lot Nol war, 60,000 Cambodians were killed. US (who guaranteed our freedom) left Cambodians in hell (1975) for the next 4 years... A few thousands dollars in welfare were not enough to cause a destruction of 7 million brotherhoods. Your hero Bush and his vice president are making billions dollars for the coprorations from oil crisis and weapons contracts. Democracy by enriching billions $$ to China ignoring Dalailama (Tebai), Tueneman Square massaca in 1999. Now they are training Vietcong to fight, using their Viet ports for their military bases? You know who they are going against in the near future?..... US cares a damn about Cambodia. She funds democracy groups the same time she doign businsess with democracy's enemies (China/Vietcongs/Hun Sen). Who's real Mr. Hypo?

If I was you I will save my smart lips and my smart mouth asking question to the country that suppress, torture and kill their own people instead. I would not ask a country like the United States. Their people are happy and free, living far off 5000 times better than you! and do I give you dum atch people? No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it is a fair question! Uncle Sam has a major role to play in Cambodia whether you like it or not! Do you really think AH HUN SEN can stay in power for long if Uncle Sam don't support him? Uncle Sam even declared that Cambodia is an ally in the fight against terrorism! So by declaring Cambodia is an ally and it means that Uncle Sam is supporting AH HUN SEN! ahahahah!

Such a limited brain!

I know that The US is supporting Ah Hung Sen ever since they put whatever his name in California in jail, but my point is why try to find fault with a country that is trying to help everyone else getting out of Hell in close society?

I told you that Mr.Embassador's mission is to protecting their Allied countries from the danger of a terrorist attack. Now if you're thinking of a country like Iran, Seria or China or North Korea is your admirers, you'd better rethink again.

A lot of people around the world are studying their behaviors right now. They are probably looking for a way out themself as we speak. From what i'm seeing it, it isn't good. China current condition isn't going to last for another 50 years. If my guess is right, it probably live for another 20 years and may be less. Cambodia needs World News T.V and not a junk private own TV by the rotten government's family. I thought that you were very smart, but appearncely you are smart pretty much for the other side or am I wrong? God usually helps everyone, but please God weigh more on the good one.

Terrorist matter is America's heart and soul. Ah Hung Sen is smart by siding on that matter. Even the China are doing the same thing with the Chinese Muslim that is how their economic is having a life. You notice it yourself that The US are supporting the bad guys, but I see they have some of their reasons and not all.

Even Mr. Sam Rainsey is a little too slow on that matter and majority of us are too slow. Quick drawing a border line is being quick in control the traffic and activity of the terrorist. You see it now what it means to the United States.

Can we learn anything? From now on what Ah Hung Sen and Ah Vietcong are doing, we'd better able to see what Mr. Embasador is seeing in it as well and pray for his involvement. He may not be our boss, but I see Laov, Veitnam and Cambodia are the great strenght for the US beside Thailand in our region.

Until this day, I have seen Mr. Rainsey of his kindness with our people and promoting democracy and all that, but I like to see him picking up a real partner in our neighborhood beside the European Union. I like to also see him picking up great advisors. Sure, he was smart, but every sucessful company has its Board of Directors. He should definitely have one. A fine one and may be someone like you, but thinking just for his success and not about the evil countries. Anything else? Sweet Dream.

My Apology for China and the Chinese Muslim Group. I don't think it's the correct issue that China won the total support from the U.S.

It's the 1. some billion Chinese people that America want to do bussiness with. That might be the right target. You know dawn well who is in bussines of making money or whose name is Capitalist.

Cambodia is being locked in a timewarp! Cambodia as a nation continue to produce leaders with twisted personality and sometime these Cambodian leaders seen as benevolent and sometime seen as killer! Sometime seen as pure uncorrupted and sometime seen as corrupted! The line between good and evil is getting blurred everytime I follow stupid Cambodian politics!
While Cambodian people continue to suffer! I just don't know if there is any hope left for Cambodian people! I just want to kill them all and start with the Vietcong first!

It's not easy, but we have to survive and do the best we can. This is life on this earth. It's very complicate and that's for sure.

I would leave it to a professional thinker and doer. Ordinary people shouldn't have to worry or frustrate about it. Go out and do something good for yourself and your family. Cherish yours and Khmer Spirit every chance you can get. The minute, you let youself go and lose hope, the minute they win. Tell Ah Vietcong and their dogs they can go to hell and see if you care:) Now go and do something fun! or plan a new invention!Good luck and take care.

Have fun, but don't forget who we are - Khmer! Stay involved, think of a way to help our homeland to rid of Ah Yuon and Hun Sen and his cronies. Why? Because ah Yuon Hanoi and everywhere else never stop lobbying for their interests and vietnamizing Cambodia until all Khmer gone. And that's the reality! Best of luck to all of US Khmer!
