Cambodia is grateful to China for helping to strengthen the dictatorial regime

October 23, 2006
Cambodian-Chinese ties remarkably strengthened: Cambodian FM

The bilateral relationship between Cambodia and China has been strengthened and deepened remarkably since the establishment of diplomatic ties, Cambodia's foreign minister has said in a written statement exclusively for Xinhua.

Hor Namhong, also Deputy prime minister, said the two countries regularly exchanged visits at all levels, including frequent high-level visits.

"Both sides have a mechanism of consultation and cooperation between the two ministries of foreign affairs for international issues," he said.

He reiterated the country's consistent support for the one-China policy and the principle of "one country, two systems."

Meanwhile, China had given assistance to Cambodia in different forms, he said.

"Between 2000 and 2006, a total of 312 million yuan (around 39 million U.S. dollars) of grant aid has been provided to Cambodia, covering major sectors such as agriculture, health, elections and infrastructure projects," Namhong said.

"For the same period, a total of 760 million yuan (around 95 million U.S. dollars) of soft loans had been granted to Cambodia for infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, government buildings, telecommunications networks and a hydro dam," he said.

Both sides pledged to increase the annual volume of trade to 1 billion U.S. dollars by 2010, he said.

In the tourism sector, the Chinese formed a significant portion of foreign visitors to Cambodia, he added.

Cambodia, a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), will take part in a commemorative summit on Oct. 30 in Nan Ning, South China, to mark the 15th anniversary of establishing dialogue relations between ASEAN and China.

No!!!I do not believe this ideas at all. China has their own expeiences of hardship and dictatorship from one generation into another generation. China tried all their cost to lead their country into a modern nation with full democracy and good social justice. Since 1644, China has been invaded by one of national named Manchue and has been controled by Manchue King from 1644 until 1911. Since their revolution from Chea Kai Chek to Mao Ste Tung >Hva Kok Wkang>Deng Xiao Ping>Zhang Zi Yang> Deng Xiao Ping> Zhang Je Min>Hun Jin Tao, China has never allowed tehir Ledaership to rule their country until tehir death. Each leader are not allowed to work more than two terms and will not allowed to pass the power to their sons and daughters. China contribution for Cambodia are to keep freindship with Cambodain people and to build Cambodian economy. But it is Cambodian leaderships who have used their aids wrongly by strengtening tehir power and killed their own people. This grave mistakes should be reported to China leadership by oppostion party. The opposition should learn how to dealt this problem with their deplomatic skills so that China can be awared of the real situation of Cambodia. If this problem is continue to carry on, the responsibility is not China but the opposition themselve who have lacked of dialogue skill with our aids donors!!!!!!!

Hi 7:42!! I think you may be born from yesterday and is living behind all the events and talk after being told by others.
I have enought suffering myself during Pol Pot for 3 year 8 months and ...days, I have enough brain to work out why Cambodian leaders have to kill their own people.
I read all references from
-Sihanouk website: This king has clearly indicated that both Zhu Enlay and Mao have repeated many times told Pol Pot and Sihanouk not to lead Cambodia into Communism like China. It will created suffering to Cambodians people. China has their experiences of suffering. It was Pol Pot, Khiev samphann and Sihanouk themselve who have chosen that regime to
a-revenge with their own people for supporting Lon Nol.
b-a long lasting power for themselve
c-experience their ideology ( Khiev samphann'thesis.
-Reference from Mr Long Rith( read at google). THe khmer rouge leaders have lacked of leadership themselves and all of them were to proud of their winnings and they were happy with the gang of 4 of China who have destroyed China as well from 1975-1978.
_I went ti Beiing myself to talk about this with Chinese leadership. They have conemned Pol pot, Khiev samphann.
As a country of China size, they must exercise their leadership role in the region by helping as many countries as they can. If you believed China aids is bad, please refused all the aids from overseas. They are the same. Iraqis who supported Saddam will think US aids is also bads. But in reality, all aids were from hard work from their citizen.
Have you ever give donnation to anyone? What have though about the impact of your monies before you have given? Please read history of all site before you make any comment!!!!!

I like to have more reasons as to why should a democratic Party like Mr. Sam Rainsey should be involved or begging China whose name is Communist? and whose reputation is killing and supressing their own people in everymove they make? and it still is happening. Isn't it?

Please explain. It look more to me that China wants to stay clear of KR Trail completely and innocently or are you their Lawyer?

Hello Mr 3:34!!! Are you a politician? If you are a politician then can you tell me how much experience you are in politic? Even, USA, France, Britain, Russia and especially the whole world included Vietnam who used to be a bitter ennemy of China in the 1979, they still making friendship with China. Making a frindship is not begging to be a puppet state. If you are a leader of a Nation and you cannot even understand how important the role pay by China in your region, then go to sleep. It will not be able to lead your country into a propsperity. First, how much you knew about China? I think you just only listen to the story of history to make up your decision.
In every Nation, there is the same problem of up and down. Cambodians have been killed by Pol Pot and Sihanouk. Chinese have also been killed by failed policies of Mao ( As mao have admitted his mistakes to Sihanouk and Pol pot). Have Sihanouk ever admitted his mistakes. No. THe killing of Chinese by Li Peng in 1989 has been also admitted by Hu Jin Tao as mistake. But by comparing China population and Cambodia is enormous different 1.5 billions to 14 millions. But look at their socio-economic development with Cambodia is also terrible huge. China has ranked no 1 as a Nation of rich in foreign reserve with over US$ 960 billions. Cambodia is till begging for monies. THe trouble, we are Cambodian ourself make our own mistake by killing our won people and creating the suffering to our own people and is blaming others. What a stupid Brain ????????
Eg, If you come to me and beg me for monies to feed your family, after having my monies, you killed your mum, your dad and your sister, can you blame me for giving the monies to you? I gave you in good faith for you to feed your family. But with my monies you become arrogant and have a fight between you. Who is to blame if you have a good stable brain ?????

Again Mr 3:34AM,
Refering to your question why a leader of a democratic party like Mr Sam Rainsy should involve or beg with China?
-First how democratic he is?. How much mature is his political experience in international policies? If he wants to lead Cambodia in the future, offcourse, he must make good relationship with China. He must understand the role of China in international affairs at present. It must even know better of China in Asia. But if he wants only to be oppostion leader, then, it is not neccessary to work with China.
-China has a communism name for uniting their 56 nationalities with 1.5 billions people. Without this form of regime, china cannot prosper themselve as today. But their socio-economy is very developped. Their people enjoyed good foods, good clothing and good housing than most european countries. Chinese are more united behind their leaders at present than ever in the history for the success of their leaders can provided to them.
-China has still killed their own people. When? Even their relationship with Taiwan is now much better than before except with the corrupted ruling party of Chen Sui Bien. Two oppositions parties leaders of Taiwan are now working closely with China to build prosperity among the people of the mainland and the Island.
-Why they stay clear from KR trial? Is this their problem? If not their problem, why they care about these things. Cambodians people must fight ourslves for our own justice.
_I am not their lawyer. I have brain to work out myself. I do not want to listen all the rubbishes from others. I made my own judgement and I made visites myself to China to see with my own eyes (9 trips all over of China).
-I have my own frienships with chinese all over of China.

I like some of your answers and agree with your idea that China play a huge part in economic properity of the region and yes, it is an excellent opportunity to be able to exchange partnership and friendship or working together, but I still don't think China is everything. China has to be more understanding of a human nature, to be kind and to let loose a little bit. May be then there will be more trusting and more bonding can be created between us ordianry people and perhap the whole world of happy and free family and country. As long as China stay the way he is or she is or to think China should not have anything to worry about the KR trail, I rather not buying it, but thank you.

If you are a politician or perhap already the head of a political party, what form of a government are you? and what kind of an economic proposal would you like to introduce to China in order to turn Cambodia around?

Please make every ballot count on the election day of 2008.

Re: Anon@2:44AM
Hello. I did not expect such a good detail on what you had done and your experiences leading to the understanding of the past and present situation of Cambodia. But please tell us also whether you have your own web site and/or anything else where we can learn more about you and your contribution to Cambodia politically or otherwise. Thanks. I am still surprised however to have learned so much from you just by my saying that it would rather be naive on your part to assume, wrongly or rightly, that such aids/donations from China have come with no string attached or as they say in America "there is no such thing as free lunch". Thanks again.

Dear All, I am 4:04PM,
I am an ordinary person living in a free world. I have my own website but haven't involved in Cambodia politic at all level. In overseas, I have challenged with other parties leaders in a political debate in front of 700 audience.
As a Cambodian, I wish all Cambodians will dump their present ruling party for good. They have ran out good ideas to construct Cambodia already. They are not in the first term. They are not good in second and not very bad in their third. Therefore, they are not good with their future. They have turned themselve from extrem left to extrem right. All Cambodians must work together as a big family and must share the cake together and must live together as a Nation. The rich must look after the poor, the intellectuals must look after the ignorance. The healthy must look after the sickness. THe country must be free from all bodies guards, the police must be able to look after their own Prime Minister. THe army must stay in their barrack. THe appointment system must be abolished ( creating corruption). Every salary earner and wage earner must get paid in liveable level. Economy must fully be opened so every one can fully participate. At present the economy is relied to only a few people belong to ruling party. One law for all. Justice system is a must and must separate from ruling party. THe Prime Minister should not allowed to control the army and police force. Education must have to re-construct to international standard so that a child can spend enough time at school. Public security is a top priority to insure that noone can be get killed anymore.
There are two kind aids
-From western world, the aids must have condition. The aids donors will follow up their aids because their citizen will ask their government for the impact of that aids.
-From asia countries, aids donors will not follow up their aids because their citizen have never requested their government for the impact of that aids.
All aids are good for Cambodia if use them wisely and correctly.

Hello,

"The United Nations announced in August of 2005 that Michelle Lee of CHINA to coordinate UN assistance to the long-awaited Khmer Rouge tribunal in Cambodia."

What is that really telling us whether CHINA has to do anything with the KR Tribunal?

Ieng Sary had aleady guaranteed acquittal verdict by CHINA.

How about Khieu Samphan? He has recently picked up by France.

What is left?

The bones!!!!

China and Viet were conspirted to commit atrocity on Khmer - two different countries but one policy.
