The ties of corruption and bribes made former president of the co-ruling Funcinpec party, Prince Norodom Ranariddh, unable to solve the problems within the party and forced him to lose cooperation with Prime Minister Hun Sen, which therefore led to his removal from the top, said party Secretary General Nhiek Bun Chhay on Saturday.
Nhiek Bun Chhay made the announcement while declaring newly- elected President Keo Puth Rasmey's soon-to-be appointment as the kingdom's deputy prime minister.
After Funcinpec created the coalition government in 2004 with the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), Ranaridhh accepted bribes from many party members and I had all the documents in hand about the corruption, said Nhiek Bun Chhay at a press conference held at the party headquarters in presence of Funcinpec's major senior officials including President Keo Puth Rasmey, First Vice President Lu Lay Sreng, Second Vice President Prince Sisowath Sirirath, as well as senior ministers Hong Sun Hout and Veng Serey Vuth.
The corruption was the source for his replacement as president and appointment as Historical President, he added.
Meanwhile, the secretary general denied the prince's accusation that Wednesday's extraordinary session, where he got ousted as president by unanimous vote of the participating party members, was illegal.
The session was legal, because the by-law of the Funcinpec Party stipulated that the requests from one-third of the party members could call for amending the internal regulations and choosing new president, he said.
So we reformed the party structures and regulations and ousted the prince, he said.
In addition, Keo Puth Rasmey will visit Kompong Cham province on Sunday and other provinces later to explain the reasons for convening the extraordinary session and introduce himself to the party members there, he said.
Meanwhile, Princess Marie, wife of Ranariddh, who is to become senior minister in charge of special mission of social works soon, will also join the visits, he added.
On Wednesday, Ranariddh was removed as party head for his long overseas stay made him unable to handle the party issues and his unwillingness to cooperate with Hun Sen led to difficulties for the party to co-rule the kingdom with CPP.
Hun Sen and other major CPP leaders congratulated the election of new leaders of Funcinpec, while Ranariddh rejected the title of Historical President and prepared to file a lawsuit against Nhiek Bun Chhay for breaking the party's by-law to convene the election.

I would say that these funcinpecists need a heavy dosage of Hanoi's medication so that they all can be a real communist RED like the CPP.
Here is my view on Kampuchea (Cambodia) Politics:
- Khmer lost Surin and Kampuchea-Krom because of weak Kings.
- Yuons continue to control today Cambodia because the Yuons continue to master CPP and Hun Sen, and because Hun Sen's CPP continues to dominate Cambodian politics.
- Hun Sen's CPP continues to iron-grip of Cambodia, because of the weak Oppositions.
- Weak Opposition is due in fact to weak internal leadership of the Funcinpecs. Funcinpecs is party without substance.
The default and logical choice would be to strenghten the real Opposition that can put away the Hun Sen's CPP. An opposition party who put Khmer Nation and Law above all means. Elect the Nation-Centric opposition is the only way to take back the Khmer Cambodia. Please don't waste your Vote on someone just make promises without real actions.
Save your valueable Vote and the Vote saves our glory Kampuchea.

Taking my bias out, I recommend Sam Rainsy Party is the only choice to strengthen the Cambodian opposition to Hun Sen's domination. Hun Sen is scared of nobody else except that nerdy Sam Rainsy guy. Sam Rainsy does have the brain-power and nation-centric heart and the strong international supports. Cambodia without Sam Rainsy is just another Kampuchea Krom II.

"mo" his sister is A big ASS KISSER Right hand woman to BUNRANNY and MARIE. THis Dude is nothin' Just another opportunist look to pocket Dollars. All three of them will be just obedient dogs to Hun Sen. They cannot possibly make rain and storm within Funcinpec, and get away with it, without Hun Sen's support and blessing.
We know the first two are totally corrupt, and Rannariddh was the most corrupt and incompetent leader of Funcinpec. Nhiek Bun Chhay was bought off for $10 millions by Hun Sen, so his body is Funcinpec but his head is CPP. When he was still in the RCAF with Ke Kim Yan he was deeply involved in illegal logging. Lu Lay Sreng has recently been implicated in the corrupt scandal with the World Bank projects. When Funcinpec won the 1993 election he was seen directing traffic of trucks carrying logs to Vietnam near Kampot.
Now, we have some background of Keo Puth Rasmey with some insight provided by Anon@11:52 PM. It looks like his turn to make a few quick bucks to support his wife's lavish life style. The same song is sung again: for party's sake, for nation's sake and for Cambodian people's sake. How long will some Cambodian people continue to be fooled by these clowns and puppets?
Oh boy, Everybody knows that it's only take 51% to win the election and no longer requiring a majority 75% of the votes.
With FCP is now breaking up. The Prince Ranarith is treating to form his own political party. Another Prince Thomico is doing the same, The Kem Sokha's party, The Californai's party is also gathering their own people and how could you all think that you could possibly be the winner?. It looks to me that The CPP is putting everyone out of the misery already.
Who has the majority member now? and why aren't you all seeing that? or trying to unite instead?

My apology for blasting the word "fool" across this website. True frustration is very hard to hide.
I hope that FUNCIPEC and SRP are able see each other eyes to eyes and able to really find some concret ground to work thing out. Let us not forgetting Prince Thomico, Lok Kem Sokha, The Khmer Krom and many other parties that are truely love our Nation and our People. They are all very importance political parties indeed. We just need to stand together to form a solid Nation,to promote peace,our people interest, safety, security, properity and definitely not for an individual or a tiny elite group in Phnom Penh alone. We know better that it could be done thru different means and options. Let others know what we do we like and don't we like. We own this land and this Nation. They are not. They have to be able to see and respect that. Sure we will embrace the multi-culturals and Multi-Nationals in our land, but something has to be done better than what goes on today. Ladies and gentlemen up there, you hold the key to this great success. Please make it happen. Thank you
