Norodom Ranaridhh: “Funcinpec is the party belonging to a clan” [- Was Funcinpec different from that before?]

Prince Ranariddh should contest with the Ministry of Interior today on the legality of Wednesday’s extraordinary congress which toppled him from Funcinpec presidency, and replacing him with Keo Puth Rasmey under the benediction of Nhiek Bun Chhay, the party secretary-general. “We had already written the complaint saying that this congress is illegal. We will submit it to Prince Ranariddh to sign, and we will hand it as soon as possible to the Ministry of Interior,” Ok Socheat, the advisor of the prince, said Thursday.

From Paris, as soon as the results of the congress was known, the former president of the National Assembly accused, through the airwaves of international radio stations, Nhiek Bun Chhay of “violating the by-laws and the internal rules” of Funcinpec, and he judged as “unacceptable” the reform launched by Nhiek Bun Chhay. “As the legal president of the party, I call on all the party’s real faithful to categorically reject these decisions,” the prince said while dropping the news that he would form his own party which will bear his name. He assured that he had this idea in his head about 5 months ago. “From now on, Funcinpec is no longer a royalist party. It is the party belonging to a clan, that of Princess [Norodom] Arun Rasmey, of her husband [Keo Puth Rasmey], and of her ex-husband Sisowath Sirirath [who was nominated to 2nd vice-president of Funcinpec.] Furthermore, following this congress, Nhiek Bun Chhay declared that he will work to remove all royal family members out of politics,” Norodom Ranariddh explained.

To the prince, this extraordinary congress would have “removed the handcuff” which hampered him “since 1993” and he estimated that from now on, he will be able to start work “that respond to the needs of the Nation.” “Funcinpec is no longer an independent party, and it no longer defends the highest interests of the Nation,” Norodom Ranariddh struck back. “I wanted to quit from it long ago, but I was afraid that people would accuse me of wanting to destabilize the country.”

While Sam Rainsy rejected yesterday the idea of cooperation between his party and a potential new Ranariddh’s party, Prince Sisowath Thomico, who recently entered the political arena by founding his own party, believe that Prince Ranariddh should remain “still” right now. “I have a lot of respect for him because he is an important personality in the royal family. But, he should remain “still” for a while. I do not want to comment on a potential cooperation between us,” Thomico explained. To Thomico, “Funcinpec is no longer Funcinpec,” it is either Arun Rasmey’s party or Nhiek Bun Chhay’s.

It's right for you Ranaridh because you never did anything follow your promise to the Cambodian (just collect$$$+girls the same as your father Sihanouk).
The new FCP's leader(Keo Puth Rasmei) is a person (ayorng) of Hun Sen. I remember on 7.7.97 Hun Sen was very angry when he heard Nhek Bun Chhay alived, so be careful NBC, you got a little bit to know Hun Sen.
But I am very happy for this coup because I would like to see the victoria of Sam RaingSy Party (I believe that Hun Sen will lampa when he loss)
CPP's person

To 5:12AM

I share the same outlook as you! If Sam Rainsy Party don't play the same tactic as AH HUN SEN, Sam Rainsy Party won't see the daylight after 2008!

No God or Uncle Sam can help Sam Rainsy Party after 2008!

I used to think that bad guy will loose at the end! But in Cambodia, bad guy always win and seen as smart! I begin to see Sam Rainsy not being smart as a leader at all years and after years! The world community never praise Sam Rainsy as being smart or righteous!

After all these years of peace and stability and Cambodia is going nowhere and Cambodian people are falling deeper and deeper into poverty.

When the fire burn the forest, a smart fire fighter will use fire to put it down! It takes a fire to fight a fire. And in politic is no different, sometime you just have to use violent to win over the bad guy.
