Sam Rainsy Party in Chub commune, Tbaung Khmum district, Kompong Cham province, had reacted to the commune authority which temporarily prevented local SRP party members from broadcasting the call made by Mr. Sam Rainsy for people to register to vote.
Nhem Sarin, fist commune councilor from SRP, said that because he found out that several people in the commune do not know the information regarding the voting registration and the verification of the voting list process, his party, the SRP, had issued a call for people to take action in the registration and verification process as the ending is nearing. However, Kan Kunly, the commune chief took away the broadcast speaker and confiscated the information pamphlets to stop the distribution of information.
Kan Kunly, Chub commune chief, denied that he prevented the broadcast, he said that he wanted to listen the content of broadcast first before allowing the broadcast to go ahead: “It’s like they don’t listen to me, I want to listen to the content first. Now, I have listened to its content, and the commune council and commune councilors agree that they can broadcast whatever they want, they should be responsible in front of the National Election Committee.”
