LANDLESS FARMERS LODGE COMPLAINT AT NEC
Through a group of representatives currently protesting in front of the National Assembly in Phnom Penh against the confiscation of their lands by powerful people, over 6,000 citizens from 3,170 families of landless farmers living in an area called Boeng Pram situated in Ampil Pram Daem commune, Bovel district, Battambang province, wrote today to National Election Committee president Im Suosdey to protest against their exclusion from the voter registration process. They notably say in their letter: « We call on Your Excellency [Im Suosdey] to please ensure the respect for the spirit of the Election Law that is based on the fundamental democratic principle of "One Man, One Vote." Please don't allow any NEC officials to put forward petty administrative arguments as pretexts to prevent the sovereign people from exercising their voting right. »

With the support of the Sam Rainsy Party, four students from different provinces but currently living in Sihanoukville won a voter-registration case at a hearing held today at the National Election Committee acting as an Appeal Court . The students were first denied registration by the authorities of their commune of residence (Sangkat # 4) in Sihanoukville. Their case is reminiscent of that of a group of factory workers also living and working in Cambodia 's largest port city. See SRP statement titled "Victory for workers in resolution of registration complaint" dated October 27, 2006 .

STUDENTS WIN REGISTRATION CASE AT NEC
With the support of the Sam Rainsy Party, four students from different provinces but currently living in Sihanoukville won a voter-registration case at a hearing held today at the National Election Committee acting as an Appeal Court . The students were first denied registration by the authorities of their commune of residence (Sangkat # 4) in Sihanoukville. Their case is reminiscent of that of a group of factory workers also living and working in Cambodia 's largest port city.
