VICTORY FOR WORKERS IN RESOLUTION OF REGISTRATION COMPLAINT
Yesterday the National Election Committee (NEC) decided to overrule a last week's decision by a Sihanoukville's commune (Sangkat # 1) not to register seven factory workers as voters. With the support of the opposition Sam Rainsy Party, the concerned workers lodged an appeal at the NEC in line with existing legal procedures (see our October 26 statement reproduced below). The NEC finally recognized the workers' voting right and ordered the Sihanoukville's commune authorities to register them.

So the NEC is reasonable after all, as long as they are managed properly.
