American arrested on pornography charges in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (AP) - An American man was arrested in Cambodia for videotaping himself while having sex with a Cambodian woman, police said Wednesday.

George Edward Chernesky, 46, from Pennsylvania, was arrested Tuesday on pornography charges when police raided his hotel room in the capital, Phnom Penh, after being tipped off by informants, said Keo Thea, deputy chief of the anti-trafficking police.

Police briefly detained the woman, a 22-year-old beer promotion girl, for questioning, he said. She told police she had intimate relations with Chernesky twice, both of which he had filmed, Keo Thea said.

Pornography is punishable by up to five years in prison.

Chernesky is the third U.S. citizen arrested in Cambodia on sex abuse-related charges in the past three weeks.

Myron Maboris, a 46-year-old American of South Korean origin, was arrested Oct. 17 for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

On Oct. 31, Donald Rene Ramirez, a former police officer from San Francisco, California, committed suicide in a Cambodian police jail where he had been detained on charges of debauchery for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Cambodia need to investigate each and every foreigner who landed in on our soil. Most of these foeigniers have no good intention in Cambodia and they shouldn't be there in the first place. What Cambodia has to offer them? and they know that. Their only intention is having excess and cheap sex with young childrens.

We need to keep a close eyes on each one of they starting from they time they get off the airport. That's how we can slow this crim down.

That's the wrong attitude to take. Yes, there are some foriegnor who have bad intention, but i think for the most part, they're there to appreciate khmer culture.

Without tourist, Cambodia will be isolated. Cambodia just need better, stronger laws to tackle these problem. Do you thinks these beer girls want to be prostitue? Of course not. They need jobs, education, training, etc... and the government can provide that. But you know how khmer government is run...

Pornography is a billion dollars business! Cambodia have something to offer for these perverted tourists and that is why they kept coming to Cambodia! Most Cambodian women are too poor and willing to do anything just to survive including sell their body or be in a porno film! Stupid Cambodian government need to understand that not all Cambodian people can become doctor or engineer and that is why stupid Cambodian government must step in to help these poor unfortunate Cambodian people!

Cambodia do need tourist but not all tourist and I am glad the Cambodian government was able to catch any sexual predator!

I agree completely that sexual predators should be prosecuted. To that extent, the Cambodian governement really has stepped up its efforts. Arrests are coming every couple of days now.

This case seems a little different, as in both people are adults, he 46, she 22. That's two consenting adults. What they do in their bedroom then is nobody's business, especially the governments.

To me it doesn't matter whether the person is old or young! Prostitution should be outlawed by any mean necessary! Unless Cambodian government can find way to control all form of prostitution!

I disagree with you on the part is that George Edward Chernesky, 46 years old is filming his sexual act with a 22 years old Cambodian woman! By filming his sexual act, he intend to make a profit by post it on internet for a fee or sell it to other underworld entities for money! George Edward Chernesky kept forgetting that any business transaction is subject to tax by the government! Does Cambodian government is in business to promote prostitution? Of course no!
That is why Mr.George Edward Chernesky is being nailed to the ground!

I wonder how many guy out there would film their love one or wife everytime they have sex?

Oh well! Let find out if this George Edward Chernesky have any connection with the porn industry!

People, get a grip on yourselves. Prostitution is as old as mankind. Outlawing it won't help as other countries have shown. Hey, beware, you xenophobes, most tricks of Cambodian prostitutes are still Cambodian men so don't just blame it on the foreigners. Eradicating poverty by providing enough jobs through stimulation of the economy is the ticket to lessen the problem. But your nice government would rather line their own pockets than to ease the plight of ordinary Cambodians.

What? Who give a fuck about prostitution is as old as mankind! If the Cambodian government can't control prostitution, and I am sure the Cambodian government can't control the terrorists and other bad entities too!
If any foreigner can come into Cambodia and pay these Cambodian women $20 to have sex and buy their trust and it won't be long a terrorist, gangster, and mafia will be doing the same thing!

Before you know it!
KAR-BOOM! KAR-BOOM! KAR-BOOM!

SEX(prostitution), DRUG, AND CRIMINAL never stability to any society!

The Cambodian cops and legal system just wanted this guy's money. If he were an Italian Factory worker or Thai Cab driver they wouldn't have bothered him. Americans are targets. Asians see the television shows where everybody is rich and living in big houses in the USA so they think they can shake everybody down. Guaranteed that ex SF Cop had a friend bribe the cop to leave his gun nearby so he wouldn't have to spend his life behind bars having a life worse than death. In Asia they get the tall underage girls from the hill tribes to try to fool some stupid drunk American to take the bait so they can shake them down for $100,000. Similarily, in the USA the Cops are having their own witch hunt, and the USA is spending 1 billion dollars jailing people for possession of Marijuana and another 5 billion on jailing drunk drivers. All this revenue is to raise money for all the state employee's pensions and salaries, not for enforcement. Similar economics.

I think all race mixing between Cambodians and White people should be made illegal in Cambodia to finally put an end to the interracial relationships that are illegal. White women in the west don't like the idea of their white men going to Cambodia to have sex with those people.

There seem to be a Link between pornography and high or low education. Pornography is legal in almost all rich countries with a general high education rate. Like USA, Japan, Norway, Sweden etc. Etc. But illegal in most poor countries with a general low education. Like Ethiopia, Sudan, North Korea and Cambodia etc.

As you can see here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pornography_by_region
