BANGKOK, Nov 27 (TNA) – Cambodia is ready to eliminate obstacles, provide conveniences, and offered incentives in a hope to attract more Thai investors into the country, according to Vinijchai Chaemchaeng, deputy director-general of the Trade Negotiations Department.
He said Cambodian Commerce Minister Cham Prasidh had led a delegation of businesspersons and state officials in a visit to Thailand to invite Thai counterparts to investing in Cambodia.
Cambodia had currently opened up itself and wanted more Thai businesspersons to invest in many areas of business.
So, Mr Vinijchai said he wanted to see Thai businesspersons invest in Cambodia. They could seek additional information from state agencies for study before making a decision to expand investment.
Production fields in which the Thai private sector expressed interest to invest in Cambodia include agriculture and processed farm products, processed fruits and juices, mining, food and beverage, property and hotel.
To promote investment, he said, the Cambodian minister revealed foreigners are allowed by law to register business in full amount, and given a right to lease land for business operations for up to 99 years.
So, he wanted Thai companies to invest in farm product processing for export to a third country so that they could get the generalised system of preference.
It is expected the gas and oil exploration and production project in Cambodia would be complete in 2008. It would make the country have its own energy source to supply to various industries.
Obstacles to trade and investment in Cambodia include an imitation of product logos, particularly of consumer goods.

AH Cham Prashit hopes to attract more Thai investors by offering his wife and the rest of young Cambodian women virginity.
Come on man! A 2 or 5 years land lease is enough and anything after that is subjected to negotiation! AH CHAM PRASHIT didn't know that 99% of the business wouldn't last more than 5 years unless the fucken business is lean and mean! I never heard of 99 years land lease before? I just hope this AH CHAM PRASHIT live to 99 years old to collect the fucken money!ahahahahha
Is this another Vietcong economic system? Gee! I wonder why!
