Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges lawmakers from all three major political parties to help education Khmer workers so that they won't end up working illegally in Thailand.
The announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a response to the request from opposition lawmaker Keo Remy who wrote a letter to Minister Hor Nam Hong asking him to negotiate with Thailand to legalize over ten thousands Khmer workers in Thailand.
In a letter to Keo Remy, Hor Nam Hong said the rights of Khmer workers are violated when they are duped by middlemen to work in Thailand illegally.
According to the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 2,590 Cambodians are in jail in Thailand.
Recently Cambodia and Thailand have agreed in principle to allow Khmer workers who are in Thailand illegally to return to Cambodia and then go back to work legally through Thai companies recognized by the Cambodian government.
Keo Remy welcomes the efforts of the Cambodian government to ensure the rights of Khmer workers in Thailand but expresses concerns about more than ten thousands others who are working there illegally.
Mrs. Pung Chhiv Kek, director of human rights NGO, LICADHO, says the Cambodian government has a big responsibility to negotiate with Thailand to issue legal work permits to all Khmer workers.

THis is to show that the report from gavernment of unemployment rate in country is only 5%. that why our fellow cambodian need to run into thailand to work illegally as slave.
AH HUN SEN kept lying through statistic and Cambodian people keep suffering without end! I have yet to see AH HUN SEN mandates transformed into any action! All that I see is land grabbing, illegal logging, SRP members assisnated, no flying kites issue, lying through statistic about Cambodian job market, pornography issue while old farts continue to marry or have sex with under age Cambodian girls...the fucken list is endless!
At the end Cambodian people continue to slave the foreigner because AH HUN SEN himself is slave! Slave beget slave! Please don't tell me that Cambodian people live peacefully as slave! Cambodian people never owe any fucker anything, if you don't believe me just check the fucken history!
