CPP official knocked down Funcinpec sign in Kompong Cham

Funcinpec representative in Kompong Cham claimed that a CPP government official had knocked down a Funcinpec party sign in Village No. 3, Veal Vong commune, Kompong Cham district, Kompong Cham province, because the sign was located next to the CPP official’s home.

Yim Pisith, Funcinpec deputy Kompong Cham district governor, accused that the action is a right violation perpetrated by the CPP on Funcinpec because, on 01 Nov, Chhey Chanty knocked down Funcinpec party sign located next to his newly built home. Chhey Chanty is a CPP government official working at the Kompong Cham provincial office, and he cannot allow that this sign be located near his home.

Yim Pisith said that the Funcinpec sign was installed there since 2000, and that he had also reported this issue to the authority.

In response to the accusation made above, Mean Chhel, the Veal Vong commune chief, clarified that this issue is not politically motivated and is only a problem involving the individual living next to the sign. He indicated that he received to report form Funcinpec and that he will try to obtain an arrangement from both parties involved.

Hun Neng (Hun Sen’s brother), Kompong Cham provincial governor, said that CPP members cannot take such action, however he does not know yet the detail of the case and he will do some more research into it.

Nicfec official from Kompong Cham province said that he received the Funcinpec report accusing CPP official Chhey Chanty, he said that such action is a true right violation act.

At the approach of any election, the number of disputes between political parties is increasing, in particular, in the past, the Sam Rainsy Party had accused the party in power (CPP) of violating all kind of rights and freedom of SRP as well as those of other parties.
