The European Union (EU) has donated 1.2 million EURO (about 1.5 million U.S. dollars) for Cambodia to prevent natural disasters, said a press release issued by the EU office in the kingdom on Monday.
The donation will be used for the communities that are easy to face impact from droughts and floods and around 120,000 people can be benefited, said the press release.
The budget financed to Cambodia is part of the seven million EURO (about 8.7 million U.S. dollars) aid, which the EU offers to the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) to benefit 1.5 million people in the field of natural disaster prevention.
Cambodia has several major rivers, which used to inundate their nearby regions during rainy season.
