Police Arrest 4 in Beheading of Woman

Police in Kompong Speu province's Baset district Thursday arrested four men—two of them local Buddhist monks—in the beheading of a 41-year-old woman, police said Sunday. Provincial deputy police chief Sok Khemarin alleged that the four entered Toan Kuon's house around 7:30 pm Oct 30 and knocked the grocery vendor unconscious with a baton. She was then dragged outside the house and allegedly beheaded by Phoeuk Vannak, 20, who was a monk. The motive for the killing was robbery, but nothing was taken from the victim because the assailants discovered that their victim's jewelry was fake, Sok Khermarin said. The woman's body was discovered the following morning and her head was located later, in a rice paddy about 700 meters away, he said. Phoeuk Vannak and his alleged accomplice, Lay Ra, 18, were both defrocked from the monkhood shortly before their arrest, Sok Khemarin said.

This crime was caused by poverty created by Hun sen government who himself has stolen hundred of millions dollars and deposited in overseas forcing the generalpublic to work with very meagre salary and wage. This kind of crime is just a begginning and will not be the last until Hun Sen realise that of hundred of millions stolen by his colleagues will also impacted to the lives of their children and then it will be a wake up call !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No this crime is not cause by Hunsen. Not everything is cause by Hunsen. This is cause by Cambodia's cultural breakdown. Religion has come to amount to nothing in Cambodia we are losing our faith and spirituality. It is sad that Buddhist monks who have been in the monastery for a long time have learn nothing of compassion and love. Khmer just doesn't understand what it means to be a Buddhist anymore. Khmer Rough has a factor in desensitize our culture as well as all the new movie of killings. The Killing of a woman by a Buddhist monk is a disgrace and a ashame, it is not at all about poverty as these despicable killers have much easier life then anyone in the country because they are fed and care for by the community who faith in their morality. They are taught to not cling to material possession yet here they are murdering for a fake jewelery? Buddhism in Cambodia need revitalization.

I agreed with Jame Doe's 9:43 PM comment. I would like to add that you may want to blame Hun Sen, but the fact of the matter is some monks were long seen of being unfaithful to the principles of Buddhism since 1970s. During the Khmer Rouge rule, some monks turned out to be Khmer Rouge comrades and killers. Human being are always tempted by the evils. In Christianity, Devil Satan, who was once the Angel of God's kingdom of heaven but was jealousy rebelled against him.
You fool monk just a title for some go to learn to budha teaching!
Monk just a title like doctor, teacher, sodier, police, or primister, ect...

I blam Hun Sen because use the state to run religion in Cambodia ( you ever read new what they order monk to do or not to do even to whach food ball or not)
the head of Budhish monk was appointed by Hun Sen, not because he have best knowledge of Budha teaching but because he the first communist who try to dicaye to be a monk to control our religion!
I know most of khmer would reconize the way the Viet and the dog Hun Sen try to destoy our soul !
