Hun Sen: The “People Power” is not democracy

Hun Sen claimed that "if the CPP loses the election, Heng Samrin and I will not remain in power." In 1993, when the CPP lost the election to Funcinpec, Hun Sen did not relinquish the power. (Photo: RFA)

That is nevertheless the viewpoint of Hun Sen who warned those who would be tempted to use the street power to impose a regime change. Referring to the 2004 “orange revolution” in Ukraine, the head of the government believed that “this kind of ‘people power’ was illegal.” “The true ‘people power’, is the power that the population holds to elect Members of Parliament who will seat here,” Hun Sen explained during a visit to the construction site for the future National Assembly. Returning to the crisis which followed the 2003 legislative election, Hun Sen recalled that certain political leaders had expressed the idea of using street power to counter his accession to the position of prime minister. “I told them ‘try it!’ I had mobilized 320,000 people to conduct a ‘counter-people power.’ Because, if they have the right to use this mean, so can I.” “The real power is the one which is issued from the election. And, don’t worry, if the CPP loses the election, Heng Samrin and I will not remain in power,” he concluded.

With the kind of oppositions in Cambodia, no wonder Hun Sen can be so confident.

People power is the really power of the democracy system. When people have been hijacked by a wrong leader or by a cheeting leader and there is no other way to remove that degrace leader, people power is the only choice. people must rise up together as human chain to remove this awfull leader,. Hun sen is one of them to be removed by people power. People must stand up in all streets and demande Hun sen to flee until the army ring his that he must go than people power is winning!!!!

Hun Sen's last day is coming closer since he rules the country from anger and corruption. He is still blind. He thought he is strong, but he is so scared of his people that is why he has around 4,000 body guards. If he continues to oppress the people one day he might be perished by his own guards. The people will celebrate his last day on this earth.

What and who would come after Hun Sen? You people are dreaming if you think there isn't anybody in the waiting in the wings to take over from Hun Sen and use all that power for his and his cronies' benefit.
