Former Funcinpec MP: Ranariddh's assets must be frozen (1)
Following our previous news "Ranariddh back in Cambodia to sell his assets" (KI, 15 November 2006), former Funcinpec Member of Parliament Sam Ramsek writes from the USA: "Any member of Funcinpec should seek court restraints to freeze all Ranariddh's assets in Cambodia and abroad. When Ranariddh entered Cambodia in 1993, he had no assets nor did he bring any assets along with him except a few personal belongings. He has no rights whatsoever to amass a fortune by abusing his power as President of Funcinpec party." Prince Norodom Ranariddh owns valuables properties in Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and France. He has significant bank accounts in Singapore and Switzerland.

Over the last few months, new SRP chapters have been inaugurated in Linz (Austria), Verona (Italy), Helsinki (Finland) and Stockholm (Sweden). This weekend, Sam Rainsy will officially open two new chapters in Copenhagen (Denmark) and Kristiansand (Norway), a town on the North Sea where several hundreds Khmer refugees have settled over the last few years.
NEC invites journalists to observe next year's elections (1)
The National Election Committee is inviting national and international journalists to "observe the 2007 Commune Council Election." To be admitted at polling stations and ballot counting stations on April 1st, 2007, journalists must show a media pass issued by the NEC. However, independent and professional journalists realize that the results of next year's elections are being decided now through manipulation of voter lists by the NEC which is under the control of the ruling CPP.
