Victims of Four Crash Accident To Be Compensated

The victims of a series of hit-and-run crashes that left two dead and six injured Nov 4 in Battambang province will receive compensation from the bank manager allegedly responsible for the accidents, police said Thursday.
Sok Chanrithy, 44, director of Acleda Bank branches in the province and in Pailin Municipality, was allegedly drunk at about 6:30 pm when he crashed his speeding Toyota 4Runner four times in the span of 7 km along National Route 5. He hit two motorbikes and two bicycles before his vehicle ground to a halt and he fled on foot with his family.
The families of those killed, Tean Toeu, 26, and Rith Kimsan, 18, both men, will receive $960 each from Sok Chanrithy on Monday after all sides agreed Wednesday to the compensation, said provincial traffic police chief Sath Kimsann.
Three of the victims who were slightiy wounded and have left the hospital will discuss compensation next week," he said.
"And three other seriously injured victims in Battambang Provincial Hospital will also negotiate after recovering from their injuries," he added.
Though the victims have not filed complaints against Sok Chanrithy, police will seek a court prosecution, Sath Kimsan said.
"If some of the victims don't agree [to file complaints] or have accepted compensation for the accident we will submit our complaint to the court's prosecutor for processing anyway," he said.
Sok Chanrithy could not be reached for comment. However Chhay Soeun, Acleda's executive vice president, said that the bank is waiting for Sok Chanrithy to provide a written account of the accident.
"We asked him to write a report mentioning what happened so then we can consider whether it’s against [company] policy," he said adding that Sok Chanrithy was driving his own private vehicle, making him alone liable.

This is a criminal act, what planet do all these peole so called leader comming from, this guy should at least face a multiple manslaughter charged.
But again money and power can shut all official mouses and the law can be bended by money, and if you are related to one of the top men then you don't need to pay a cent, may be the victim have to pay or convected of causing damage to the vehicle.

The provincial traffic police chief would certainly be rewarded for facilitating the agreement, in which the traffic police officials usually pressure the victim's family to accept smaller compensation so that they can get more money out of the actual paid amount.
Let's hope the drunken offender will remember this tragic event for the rest of his life.
This guy should be jailed even with some small compensations for the family from Acleda, not even from his own pocket. Littly his guy is getting away. He should be fired and jailed, minimumly 20-30 years. Two people did not get to see their families again.
