Opposition asks gov't about gasoline price not falling in Cambodia in spite of international price drop

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF THE KINGDOM OF CAMBODIA

November 1st, 2006

QUESTION TO THE GOVERNMENT ABOUT GASOLINE PRICE

Today, Member of Parliament and opposition leader Sam Rainsy asked the Government the following question: "Since mid July 2006, crude oil price has fallen 25 % on the international market (from $78.40 to $58.30 a barrel in New York ). Why gasoline retail price in Cambodia has remained unchanged at 4.200 riels a liter over the past three months and-a- half?"

Because the price of commodities/energy based on the theory of economic superglue index. So after inflation and the cost of undertable handout adjudgment, the superglue prices index calculation has been adopted to the Cambodia market situation by the Kingdom's export and import authority. "You know what I mean superglue ".

No we don't! Your language is from Mar. Please stop trowing stuff like that at us.

All we know, the crude oil by barrel is going down and the price should go down as well.

If you are so smart, you need to do a better business and treat our people with a little more respect or better and with an honest price! That is calling smart and a long last value of leadership. Just don't make us call your name.

How much more AH HUN SEN want to take advantage of Cambodian people?

Cambodian people are borned to be taken advantage of by AH HUN SEN and his Vietcong policy?

AH HUN SEN kept forgetting that even a dictator like him has some limitation and your enemies are looking at your limitation everyday until the day you fall from power! Mr. Untouchable, you time will come.

Do you believe that present government will manage budget well for the country development? they just add more money from oil to their account in foreign banks.

they way our leader runs the country now is like a family, there is no check and balance, but share with few or more people from the state resources.

People themselves should think about this because even they are govern without law but they still need legitimacy from ordinary people. Power is with the people, not at the top. Power does not exist if there is no relationship. If few people at top do not have relationship with people then they do not have power too. They have power because they can interact with other ordinary people. If ordinary people strengthen their awareness, then power will not stay at the top.
