A senior Kratie provincial police officer has arrested his 20-year-old son for allegedly walking into his high school Friday and shooting a rival student in the leg, police said Sunday.

Khou Sunnary, provincial police finance bureau chief, seized his son Khou Sovandeth and his friend Yiv Rothya, 19, in the province's Chhlong district Friday evening hours after they had fled the scene of the shooting, said Provincial Police Chief Chuong Seang Hak. The two young men were handed over to the provincial police the same night, he said.

"In the spirit of law enforcement, it was a right decision. As a police officer, [Khou Sunnary] arrested and handed over his son to the police," Chuong Seang Hak said.

Khou Sovandeth and Yiv Rothya, who was involved in the argument that preceded the shooting, are scheduled to appear at the provincial court today, Chuong Seang Hak said.

Khou Sovandeth allegedly shot Srun Sorphal, also 20, at around 8 am in the courtyard of Queen Preah Kossamak High School in Kratie town, police said. The victim was shot once in the left calf.

Khou Sovandeth had broken into his parents' safe and stolen a revolver, which he then used to shoot his fellow student, Chuong Seang Hak said. He added that Khou Sovandeth and Srun Sorphal had a personal dispute that had been running for years.

Khou Sunnary could not be reached for comment Sunday.

The victim's mother, Iv Leap, 49, welcomed the arrest, saying that her son may now receive justice.

"I am happy that they try to find justice for my son," she said.

Srun Sorphal is being treated in Kratie Provincial Referral Hospital after undergoing an operation Friday, Iv Leap said.

Chuon Socheath, Cambodian Center for Human Rights provincial coordinator, also lauded the arrest. But he urged the court to prosecute the offenders according to the law.

May I suggest: DON'T THROW WATER AWAY BEFORE RAINING.
This is the story: When her son came to the house to tell her about he was seeing his father kissing and lying over a woman this morning. Mrs. Bunny told her son to hold on the whole story until her husband at home for the dinner with the family. After dinner, Mrs Bunny turned to her boy and said Honey! you have the story to tell your dad. The boy told his parents everything he has shown, " I did see you were kissing and staying over her at the PARK, it just like uncle DOUNG and mommy did to each other last month".
HOOYA! when the whole story revealed it hits both of them on the head.
