Three policemen accused of raping a 12-year-old girl over three days at a commune police post in Siem Reap province remained at large Tuesday, officials said.

Officers Neang Sam Sineth, 25, and Kong Sokhun, 21, both of Kok Chak commune police post in Siem Reap district and a provincial policeman who authorities will only identify as Ka, have all been accused by police and rights workers of raping the girl last month.

Suos Narin, a provincial monitor with local rights group Adhoc said Monday that the victim appears to suffer from mental difficulties, and was raped by the officers between Nov 11 and Nov 13 after she ran away from home.

"We know their names. We do not know where they are hiding, but we're trying to find them," Chea Heng, chief of the provincial juvenile protection police office, said by telephone.

"The bad acts of the three police has damaged our reputation as police officers," he added.

Chea Heng said he has no additional details on the officer identified as Ka.

However, he said Monday that the third alleged child rapist was a member of the provincial intervention police department who had raped the girl "in the jungle."

Touch Pheakdey, deputy prosecutor at the provincial court, said the court has not yet received a request from the police to issue an arrest warrant for the wanted officers.

Suos Narin, an Adhoc investigator in Siem Reap, said that Kork Chak commune police are refusing to reveal Ka's full name.

Interior Ministry spokesman Khieu Sopheak said he was too sick to speak to a reporter.
