Vietnam's new Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung arrived in Cambodia Monday for a two-day state visit to strengthen cooperation between the two nations, who share a fractious history.

"The visit is to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries," Cambodian Foreign Minister Hor Namhong told reporters at Phnom Penh airport.

Dung was welcomed to the kingdom by his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen, as well as government officials and diplomatic corps.

He then left to visit Cambodia's Independence Monument and pay his respects at a monument in honour of Vietnamese soldiers killed in battles to overthrow the Khmer Rouge regime in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Dung will hold an official meeting with Hun Sen later Monday, and the pair are expected to discuss investment in mine exploration, rubber plantations and building a hydroelectric power plant at Se San river in northeastern Cambodia.

Cambodia and Vietnam have close economic ties but disagreement over their shared border has marred relations.

Border feuds have sparked disputes that tap into often virulent anti-Vietnamese sentiment in Cambodia, fuelled by resentment of Vietnam's expansion over the centuries.

Dung, 56, was appointed as the communist country's prime minister in June. He was expected to leave Tuesday for Laos.

The Vietnamese Emperor, His Imperial Highness Nguyen Tan Dung, is currently touring his vassal states. His first stop is Cambodia, where puppet government officials are sparing no expenses to ensure that his imperial trip is a monumental success. The Cambodian state officials are expected to pledge their continuing allegiance to the Emperor in the Government/Colonial Palace during His Imperial visit.

The Viet Emperor's next stop is Laos, where he will expect the same show of subservience as in Cambodia. The Vietnamese officials decline to reveal the kind of invaluable gifts the Emperor receives from the two vassal states. However, the Emperor is expected to review the headcount of the dead opposition and rights activists undertaken by the puppet officials under the Imperial Court's order. The vassal state with the lower headcount may be punished for its incompetency.

Hun Sen must learn from Vietnam of changing leadership. How many Prime minister in Vietnam since 1980? The longer you stay as Prime Minister is not good for you. People need to be Prime Minister one or two terms that is enough. When you stay too long we call you ROBBER or TIGER. You are no loger an honorary person anymore.

No Cambodian people would invite any Vietcong Dung to Cambodia! When AH HUN SHIT leadership is over by natural cause or firing squad or by assassination, no more Vietcong leadership will be allowed to enter Cambodia!!!!!!!!!!

A lot more Vietnamese soldiers were killed putting the Khmer Rouge in power than were ever killed taking them out of power, and had the KR not been so stupid as to attack the Vietnamese, they would still be in power and the smiling Vietnamese leader would be making the same visit.
