A new report in Phnom Penh on Tuesday, found that corruption is widespread in Cambodia and that the anti-corruption measures in Cambodia remains weak.
Seng Theary, executive director of the Center for Social Development (CSD) told reporters that corruption is saturated throughout the country.
The different forms of corruption include, despotism, briberies, unofficial spending, traffic violations, and more.
SRP leader Sam Rainsy tells VOA Khmer that Cambodia loses anywhere between $300-500 millions annually to corruption.
Government spokesman and Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith dismisses these criticisms saying the government is doing everything it can to curb corruption, by highlighting the fact that the country has drafted an anti-corruption bill into law. The drafted bill is awaiting decision from the National Assembly.
Opposition party and civil society officials are presently hastening for the Cambodian government to implement the anti-corruption law immediately.

Khiev Kanharith is one of the hardhead corrupted officials and one of the most womanisor of CPP regime. We can ask him what kind of salary he got and how much he got his assets around Cambodia and how all his monies deposited in foreign bank. This man has been corrupted since he was the student of Indradevy.
Khieu Kanharith u r a pig, if your goverment cannot do it and u know very well why u and ur clans cannot do it bc u keep wanting to suck every penny that suppose to go to the most desperate citizen. SO if you can't do it let some1 else that can do it.
khieu Khanarith reminded me of an Iraqi information minister of Sadam Husein's government, though, I did not recalled his name. This guy is hypocrit every time he talks about problems in Cambodia. He is the most corrupted minister in the CPP. I remembered one of my old friend told me that this guy went to school with him in Indra Devy in Phnom Penh in early 1970s. He showed off just like what he did today. However, his education was limited. He just obtained a Bachaluaret from Indra Devy. Now a minister of infornmation. Hahahahahaha Ass hole.
Hello Poster 6:48AM,
This Khiev Kanharith has passed more than Bacc from Indradevy. He was studying Literature francaise with madame Chamroeurn Sam Eurn and madame Prum Thos. He has passed Haut fonctionnaire exam in 1974. He was a play boy and kap Chak every day with Pov Om high student. He is similar to Iraqi Information minister Mohammed Ali who know how to deny and deny all the time. That is what he has learned to say.
Corruption is nothing new in Cambodia. It is not happened in Hun Sen Regime it was rampagned since King Sihanouk(economic down hill) and Lon nol regimes(the cause of losing war and low moral among soldiers and civil servants) as well as Khmer Rouge was the worst corrupted regime(people worked hard in field with no or little compensation and let them starved to dead)and the worst abuser on all human rights rules. And weakened every fabrics of country systems and opened the door for VN to invade Cambodia. Hun Sen regime is very corrupted, and selective human rights abuses. At least people can do businesses but have to bride officails. It is not the best that people wanted but who else out there can replace this regime? FUNCIPEC. NO, NO, and NO.... SRP may be... but in Cambodia you can't tell who is good? wait until s/he hold power for few months and you will know fish smell or not.
