Following the harsh reaction from Cambodian high ranking government official about Finland decision to offer political asylum to Heng Pov, accused of crime by the Cambodian government which demands that Finland reconsiders its offer, Finland has responded through its spokesman, that it will not change its position. In an answer to Voice of America, Petrich Tuomini Kola, Finland Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman, said that he knows very well the decision made by the Finnish government, and there will be no position change. He also explained that the visa was provided to Heng Pov based on humanitarian reason. Ngin Sotheavy, Heng Pov’s wife, who is currently in Malaysia, told VOA by phone that she is not worried about the reaction from the Cambodian government because she is confident that the Malaysian court and Finland who is maintaining its decision, will provide the visa for her husband.
