Heng Pov, the former Phnom Penh police chief, has not yet arrived in Finland even though the Malaysian court had decided that he be deported back to Singapore, from where he can continue his travel to Finland.
Meanwhile, a group of people close to Heng Pov expressed their worries and fear about the possibility of treacheries that could destroy the plan to send Heng Pov to Finland.
San Sophal, a person close to Heng Pov, told RFA that the Malaysian police want to send Heng Pov by land to Singapore. This tactic could lead the Singapore authority to arrest Heng Pov and send him back to Cambodia.
Last week, the Malaysian supreme court had decided to deport Heng Pov back to Singapore, then from Singapore, he can catch a plane to Finland.
However, on Tuesday, Abdul Gani Patail, Malaysia Attorney General, told RFA that his attorneys are opposed to the court decision, and that they support the idea of sending Heng pov back to Cambodia. He noted that Heng Pov will have difficulties traveling to any country, except Cambodia, because his passport has been confiscated from him.
According to a source close to Heng Pov’s case indicated that currently, Heng Pov’s lawyers are actively seeking a mean to send Heng Pov safely to Finland.

The Cambodian government is doing everything it can in it's corrupt power to stop Heng Pov from reaching Finland. The world should keep a close eye on this case. The U.N., the U.S. and every human rights group should also pay attention.
