Three nations discuss development ‘triangle’
VNS
Da Lat — Prime Ministers Nguyen Tan Dung of Viet Nam, Bouasone Bouphavanh of Laos and Hun Sen of Cambodia are gathering here today to discuss plans for a triangle of development among the three countries.
Senior officials met in Da Lat yesterday to prepare for the summit.
The gathering, the fourth such summit of the three nations prime ministers, aims to strengthen consolidation and co-operation among Viet Nam, Laos and Cambodia.
During the summit, the three leaders are expected to review achievements obtained in the last three summits and discuss measures to implement the Vientiane Declaration of November 2004 on building a triangle of development, a goal set in motion at the first summit in Vientiane in 1999.
During the 10th ASEAN Summit in Vientiane, the three prime ministers approved a master plan for the development triangle and signed the Vientiane declaration on establishment of the Viet Nam-Laos-Cambodia development triangle.
Geographic location of the triangle was defined in last summits as the eight provinces of Ratanakiri and Stung Treng in Cambodia, Atapu and Sekong in Laos, and Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak and Dak Nong in Viet Nam.
Together with representatives of these provinces, representatives of Cambodia’s Mundulkiri Province, Laos’ Salavan Province and Viet Nam’s Lam Dong Province are attending the current summit.
This summit aimed to determine goals and measures to speed up the process of building the triangle, meeting demands and interests of each country and making contributions to peace, stability and co-operation in the region.
The three sides have carried out several co-operation projects on building infrastructure and transportation networks linking the provinces in the triangle with the three nation’s capital cities and with Viet Nam ports, as well as upgrading highways in Cambodia and Laos, building small- and medium-scale hydropower systems and electric transmission networks.
The three sides have also enhanced co-operation within the framework of bilateral and multilateral co-operation and Mekong sub-region and ASEAN co-operation programmes.
In the last two summits, Japan delivered support to the establishment of the triangle and offered initial assistance of 2 billion Japanese yen for some small-scale projects in the region.
The three countries recently asked the Japanese Government to consider financial sponsorship for 12 projects in transportation, education and healthcare with total capital needs of US$300 million.

What the fuck is Development Triangle? Why the fuck the Vietcong kept attaching every shit they have to Cambodia and Loa? This Vietcong know that they won't get no loan from the Jap and so they will have to include stupid Cambodia and the Loa in the name of development to get the fucken loan and at the end stupid Cambodia and Loa will bail out the Vietcong from all responsibility! I saw this Vietcong strategy before and during the war and stupid Cambodia will not get anything out of it! Nothing! Nothing! Nothing! What the Vietcong is actually doing is to seek controll over Cambodia and Loa through economic and the fucken Jap are ready to help the Vietcong!
Cambodia must have a clear independent development policy at all cost! Cambodia must oversee any development and cross out any Vietcong domination in Cambodia and Loa!!
