Opposition lawmaker, Son Chhay says he will write a letter to the new Thai prime minister to seek a compromise between Thailand and Cambodia after Cambodia accused Thai soldiers of crossing the border into Cambodia to destroy Cambodian houses on November 29th in the northwest.
Son Chhay told VOA by phone Friday that he wished to see a resolution in the border incident.
Some 300 Thai soldiers allegedly crossed the border into Cambodia and destroyed Cambodian home along the border. They allegedly told the villagers that the houses were built on the overlapping border area in Tuol Prasard village, Poi Pet commune, O Chrov district, Bantteay Meanchey province.
Lt. Col Khuon Vanna , Infantry Army of Cambodia who stations at the border told VOA that the area causes confusion because a canal that divides the two countries split into three small ones. He said this makes it hard for both sides to judge which one would be the main one.
Cambodian Gov't Spokesman Khieu Kanharith said Cambodia has sent troop there make people feel safe.

What Thailand did is barbaric and cruel.
They did to our people because they think our government is stupid or too dump. They also think our Khmer government is too weak to defend our people. How stupid our government does their job now? Just sent troop to make khmer people feel safe only? Why the spokeman looks down khmer soldiers? Aren't khmer soldiers strong enough to protect their territory? Come on, don't be stupid to disrespect our own nation, Mr. Khieu.
