The Land Transport Department has announced it will build a direct road from Bangkok to Phnom Penh via Aranyaprathet, as part of a plan to expand highway networks between Asean countries
Director-general Silpachai Jarukasemratana said an agreement on the special route would be signed next year by Thailand and Cambodia. Thailand also plans to extend its highways into Vietnam and southern China.
Transportation and logistics companies wishing to use the new routes have been invited to express their interest with the department.
Thailand previously opened checkpoints designed for commercial traffic on its borders with Malaysia and Laos, which created direct routes from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur and Vientiane.
"By linking the various strategic routes in the region, Thailand has moved towards full integration of the land-transport network as agreed among Asean nations and China," said Silpachai.

Very nice. Improvement on transportation and roads will pave the way for new development and better infrastructure. While Cambodia, Thai, Laos, and Vietnam still have border issues that needs to be resolved, opening and integrating it's local economy will help them compete internationally. The only thing holding Cambodia back from full development is governmental corruption. However, that will take time to overcome.
I had seen the substandard roads built by the Thai before and I know it won't last last for a few months! The Thai won't bother with international standard!
Any road in opinion should be at least 10 feet wide and have 3 to 4 lanes! This is very important because when the major repair is needed and a small section of the road can still be used while the other section of the road can be repaired! As you can see the goal is to keep traffic moving!

Cambodia need to hook up their economic system with the outside world which are more advance than the look down mother fucker Thai and the Viet! Cambodia don't need the Thai and the Viet! There is a bigger world out there than the Thai and the Viet!
