The National Assembly on Thursday voted to remove Prince Norodom Ranariddh-loyalist To Gary from his position as a secretary of state; at the Ministry of Planning. Funcinpec Secretary-General Nhiek Bun Chhay called for To Gary's removal because he had turned his back on the party, said Funcinpec lawmaker Ly Thuch. Of the 79 lawmakers present, 71 voted for the removal, four voted against, three abstained and one vote was void, National Assembly and CPP Honorary President Heng Samrin said. To Gary said no one had informed him that he was about to be fired, but that he had suspected that it was on the cards. "Funcinpec has fired me just because I am always loyal to Samdech Krom Preah," To Gary said by telephone, adding that he has acted with integrity. "I felt that [the removal] would happen to me one day, so as a politician I am not sad," he said. Phorn Chantha, a Funcinpec lawmaker, replaces To Gary at the Ministry of Planning.
