PHNOM PENH — Prince Norodom Ranariddh on Tuesday officially lost his seat in the National Assembly as a consequence of his ouster from the royalist FUNCINPEC party.
Heng Samrin, president of the National Assembly, said that following a request from FUNCINPEC, Ranariddh's membership in the body has been taken over by female FUNCINPEC lawmaker Mat Salima. The prince, 62, who is in France, could not be reached for comment. He left for France on Nov 25.
