A CPP police officer from Koh Kong province had enticed a Funcinpec party member to defect his own party.

To what degree is the level of the coercion? This is a testimony provided by a Funcinpec party member to RFA on Wednesday regarding a [CPP] police officer: “My name is Chea Kim Seng, I am the vice-president of the Funcinpec party in Thmor Bang district. On 19 Dec, Nak Bo, a police officer, forced all Funcinpec party activists who are candidates to the commune election in Chi Phat commune, to thumb print and provide their biography so that they can join the CPP party…”

Chea Kim Seng, the Funcinpec party vice-president, added: “… some candidates were scared, they made their wives write down the biography while they came to report to me and to ask for my intervention. Nak Bo is a police officer, he had taken successive actions, several times already. However, in the past, I contacted the CPP district party president who is our partner, asking them to reprimand this man, his action is not becoming of a police officer.”

The CPP police officer accused by Funcinpec, did provide any reaction to the accusation.
