Heng Samrin, the honorary CPP president, declared on 2 Dec in Kompong Cham province, that if there were no 2 Dec and 7 Jan, there would be nothing like today.
The 28th anniversary of 2 Dec which was celebrated at the Heng Samrin junior high school, in Chrey village, Kak commune, Ponhea Krek district, was attended by more than 10,000 people, according to a deputy police commissioner claim, who came from Ponhea Krek and Snuol districts in Kratie province, from Kamchay Mea district in Prey Veng province, and from another district in Svay Rieng province. The celebration was presided by Heng Samrin who told the several thousands people attending the celebration that 2 Dec is a very important date for Cambodian people.
Heng Samrin said: “All our people clearly understand that if there was no formation of the front on 2 Dec, and the 7 Jan victory, we would not have everything as we do today…”
Based on this claim, Heng Samrin recalled the various past development achievements, in particular, he asked people to look at the development of the very same place where the meeting is being held in Ponhea Krek district.
In response to Heng Samrin’s claim, Sam Rainsy, the opposition leader, indicated that each one of us has different interpretation of the event occurring in Cambodia more than 20 years ago. Sam Rainsy said that in his personal opinion, before there was the 2 Dec, there were other dates also.
Sam Rainsy said: “They said that if there is no 2 Dec and 7 Jan, we would not have what we have until now. 2 Dec and 7 Jan are related to the formation of the front to liberate from the Khmer Rouge, but as I said earlier, if there is no 17 April, there wouldn’t be this 2 Dec. Furthermore, if there is not foreign aggression, there would not be this 17 April either. Therefore, the root of everything that we must look at is communism, both Vietnamese and Chinese, which caused the destruction of Cambodia.”
Heng Samrin told the meeting that the 2 Dec front is the directing organization of the CPP, it was formed in the liberated zone inside Snuol commune, Snuol district, Kratie province in 1978. It was formed to fight and remove from power the Khmer Rouge authoritarian communist regime known as Democratic Kampuchea.

Rainsy comments is spot on, The Viet cong/North Vietnam they should be held accountable for the death of Millions of Khmers, Chinese etc between 1975-1979, as they are the one whom help fund KR Pol Pot with weapon to topled Lon Nol and took their revenge on the innocent Khmers.
In short Vietnam help Pol Pot launch Khmer Rouge to Kill Khmer Citizen and Then used Ah Heng Samrin to invade Cambodia and kill more Khmers so 2 Dec mark the day in living memory of Vietnam intention/motive to do everything in it power to destroy Cambodia and it people in everyway possible.
