SRP party members and supporters in Kiri Andet village, Treal commune, Baray district, Kompong Thom province, claimed that they are currently under pressure and threat to take down the SRP party signs placed in front of various private homes. The threat came after one commune official belonging to SRP left the party to join the ruling CPP party.

Men Srey Mom, a middle-age woman, whose home maintain a larger SRP party sign, claimed that Chab Saroeun, commune councilor of Treal commune, came and told her to take down the party sign on Thursday, but he did not provide any reason about this demand: “Roeun told me to remove the party sign. If I keep it where it is now, he will come and take it away…”

Another anonymous middle-aged woman said that after she was told to remove the SRP party sign from in front of her house. After she refused to comply, she received threat and insults from a group of unknown people which threw excrement bags onto her house.

Villagers claim that Chab Saroeun is the instigator to incite people to remove the SRP signs. However, Chab Saroeun denied this accusation. He said that he has no right to order the villagers to remove these SRP signs. He claimed that to the contrary, it was the villagers themselves who made the request to the CPP commune councilors, and it was the villagers who decided to remove the SRP party signs by themselves.

it was not the answer what Mr. Chab Saroeun said that he had no rights to order villagers to remove SRP sign. If he had had rights, villagers would not have complained. Bacause he had no rights to do that, that's why villagers accused him of doing wrong. Villers know he had no rights to do so, he had to answer whether he threatened people or not.
