Thais Treat Us As We Treat Ourselves

Thursday, December 7, 2006

Letter to the Editor
The Cambodia Daily

We are disappointed but not surprised that Thai soldiers have dismantled the houses of Cambodian villagers on the border, ('Thai Border Incident Prompts Finger-Pointing," Tuesday, Page 15.)

We want to live in peaceful coexistence with all our neighboring countries and wish to avoid any conflicts, particularly as the result of the border tension. We hope that our two nations will find a way to solve all the border conflicts.

In destroying our villagers' homes, Thai soldiers may be repeating what Cambodia has done to its own people.

In recent years, we've seen some of our own armed forces violently remove people's houses as they were forcefully evicted in Phnom Penh and the provinces.

We believe our neighbors will respect the Khmer people more if they see that we also care for and respect our own people.

KHMER UNITY!!! Doesn't matter if your Viet, Chinese, Cham, Muslim, Yellow or Blue if you follow the ways of the Khmer than you are Khmer....Love your people and your country and live for a better tommorrow and a better Cambodia!

Absolutely correct. However, you cannot unite when some Khmer leaders are uniting with Youn to swallow Cambodia. You have to stand up against those who oppress you from speaking and abuse you in every day life. Unfortunately, many squared killometer of land were lost to Thai or Youn and continue to lose many more inches daily. Khmer people are who live along the Thai border are abused by Thai and their own leaders. They are not going to survive for long if their own government, Thai, and Viet continue to abuse them. We all need to find ways to help our people, Khmer.

When the Khmer empire fell, the Khmer warrior heritage was gone forever. Although Khmers are still hanging on to that ideal, their actions are nothing of the kind.

For the past few centuries, Khmers were at the mercy of the two powerful neighbours and manipulated to fight among themselves. The neighbouring masters stepped on the Khmer leaders, and the Khmer leaders in turn stepped on their little people. Khmers almost became extinct as a homogeneous people.

In this 21st century, Cambodians should look and learn from other countries or peoples who fight for survival and dignity against their bullying neighbours or masters. We can't expect Cambodian leaders to undertake any courageous acts for their people and country. Perhaps, suicide bombings could be fashioned to help protect Cambodian interests and survival. Obviously, one man's terrorist is another man's freedom figher. Just a thought!

Your comment is right on target. I would very much like to live in Cambodia but I can't. Cambodia sightseeing DVDs make me tearful and miss so much. All my family members were all gone 1970-1979, so Cambodia is something is the past.

Khmer people should rebel against any force of oppression and aggression. Khmer people cannot count on their gov't to care and protect them. We ought to stand up for ourselves. Cambodia is home of the frees and the braves.

This is meant the Thai is off the hook?

Though your comment is correct in its assessment, your conclusion to turn to terrorism wasn't meant seriously, was it? Violence would only destroy the Khmer people and would incur the wrath of their neighbors. Hasn't Cambodia seen enough violence? Because of the history Khmer have a deep-seated aversion to their neighbors, which was again reinforced after 1992 when Thai and Vietnamese businessmen came to exploit the opportunities, helped along by a more than willing government, which did not know anything about governing in the first place, and still doesn't. But don't forget there were and are a good, if not equal, number of Taiwanese, Malaysian businesses doing exactly the same and I never any complaint about those. Say what you may about the Vietnamese, they did rid Cambodia of the Pol Pot regime. Yes, they occupied the country for 10 years plundering its natural resources. But would the Khmer have been able to shake off that stone-age regime on its own? Why can't a new spirit prevail?

It's a matter of opinion whether one wants to thank or sleep with the Viets or view it otherwise. To some, the Viet-engineered killing fields had been envisioned, planned for years and years and carried out in such a way that it's just like the movie "The perfect storm"....But one thing that one may have to remember is that one cannot underestimate the will of the Khmer people. The killing fields may have been intended to crush the khmer's spirit...yet some thinkings as stated by anon@4:40 PM are not that unimaginable or far fetched. Furthermore such thinking to save one's own blood and race on one's own mother land cannot be viewed as an act of terrorism. We all can only theorize while Viet dog Hun Sen and his cronies continue to sell everything in Cambodia ....If there is something to hope for, let's just hope not to be ah YUON Katop 's valet like ah HUN SEN whereby millions of Viets are soon to outnumber the native khmers....one can only imagine what will happen after that....

To: Mr Moeun Chhean Nariddh!

I don't like your logic at all beside it doesn't make any sense!

Here is why!

First, AH HUN SEN is a Vietcong slave puppet therefore his not Cambodian! Second, AH HUN SEN whole system of government are populated by Vietcong double agents which serve Vietcong in Hanio! Three, Cambodian people is not even consider Cambodian people by AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave government and you don't see AH HUN SEN recognize the Khmer Krom people but the YOUN are well recognize by AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave government in Cambodia!

Tell me that I am wrong here!

This is the issue of the Vietcong puppet government treated Cambodian people badly! This is a fucken Vietcong puppet government that the Cambodian people are dealing with here!

This is not the issue of Khmer treated Khmer badly! Please tell me that the Vietcong didn't brainwash you too! ahahahahah!

Who would be stupid enough not to see that Cambodia still inherit the Vietcong puppet government? Not me!

10:27 PM I enjoyed reading your analysis. I agree with your thoughts and hope Cambodia will one day prevail against all odds.

You are trying to justify the fucken Siam and the fucken Vietcong aggression on Cambodia?

OK! Let analyze your statement:

"But don't forget there were and are a good, if not equal, number of Taiwanese, Malaysian businesses doing exactly the same and I never any complaint about those."

Now tell me even if the Taiwanese and the Malaysian exploited Cambodian people for their economic gain but do they annexed Cambodian land and violated Cambodian sovereignty?
Of course not! The Taiwanese and the Malaysian never violate Cambodian sovereignty or annexed Cambodian land! ahahahahahahah!

What about the Saim and the Vietcong? Well, the Saim and the Vietcong came to Cambodia to exploited poor Cambodian people for economic gain and violating Cambodian sovereignty by annexing Cambodian land! Duh?

Sorry to say that your argument don't cut the cheese!ahahahahah!
