SRP leader Sam Rainsy dismissed anonymous allegations printed in a Khmer-language newspaper Wednesday that a party lawmaker had taken bribes from a Banteay Meanchey province casino. Kampuchea Thmei newspaper cited an anonymous SRP lawmaker as saying fellow SRP lawmaker Kim Suor Phirith had received bribes and land in return for not criticizing a casino in Poipet commune. Sam Rainsy called the allegations "psychological warfare by certain adversaries," prompted by SRP political successes. "When someone accused us of being a spy or something else, it means we are doing good," he said at a news conference about alleged irregularities in the registration of commune election candidates. Last month, CPP government officials said Prime Minister Hun Sen had claimed SRP lawmaker Son Chhay had worked as his spy. Son Chhay has denied the allegation. Kim Suor Phirith, who represents Banteay Meanchey, also denied the allegations against him Wednesday. "This is a political ploy to divide the party," he said. Kampuchea Thmei reporter Meas Rithy said he stood by his story.

Does this also mean the ruling party is doing well when SRP critises it? NEC must also be doing a good job.
