Beijing exerts its control on local Chinese businesspeople in Cambodia?

Chinese embassy raises money for Chinese Culture Development Fund in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Embassy here on Friday raised 384,000 U.S. dollars of donation for the Chinese Culture Development Fund in Cambodia, which is to be launched to promote the cultural heritage of China.

The embassy proposes to establish the fund to help meet rising demand in Cambodia and China for more bilingual talents to fuel the burgeoning exchange and cooperation between both sides, said Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jinfeng.

She made these remarks while delivering a speech to hundreds of personalities who came to attend the celebration of the lunar calendar New Year of China.

The fund will be run by local businesspeople under the guidance of the embassy, she said.

It will focus on training bilingual talents who are expected to facilitate the development of the bilateral ties between Cambodia and China, she added.

Khmer Language Over Thai Radio:
The Bangkok Post reported last month that a radio station in Thailand's Surin province is preparing to launch Khmer-language broadcasts for the nearly 1 million ethnic Khmers who live near the Cambodian border in Surin, Sisaket and Buriran province. Previously banned, this new move will definitely be well received and appreciated.

I think the dam YOUn should take the same approaches.
