Hun Sen's warning to stop land-grabbing is good, it would be even better if he and his family set the example

Cambodian Officials Warned To Stop Land Grabbing

DPA

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen warned officials Thursday that he will punish anyone caught land grabbing or turning a blind eye to the problem.

Speaking at an economic forum in the capital, Hun Sen said the onus was on government, district and commune officials to report anyone who illegally forced people from their land and said he wanted reports made directly to him.

"Land grabbing creates a serious threat to social stability and politics in Cambodia. The government has worked hard to build many roads but regretably, after we finish, people from the city go to buy or take the land from those in the countryside," he said.

"I promise to punish those guilty of illegally taking land," he said.

Land grabbing has been identified as a major problem by donors and rights groups.

Rapid development combined with a lack of legal papers and land titles and a culture of impunity for the rich has seen an increase in reports of people being forced off their land, and donors have directly warned the government to act.

This is the sign that the land gabbers are the cronies of Prime Minister. If they are not his cronies, why he warned them many times to stop while there are many existing laws, adopted by his own government since PRK and RGC, to be implemented? those land grabbers are surely his power supporters.

Hun Sen has significantly improved his political maturity. His way of speech can draw attention from people and specialists. And often, it can purify himself from political errors in this coming election.

However, Hun Sen's words are genuinely manipulation. He said "land grabbing has been identified as a major problem by donors and rights groups".

Do those donors and rights groups agree with him?

No, my Premier!, those donors and rights groups have kneeled in front of you and humbly request you and your cabinets to amend anti-curruption law as soon as possible. This suggestion has appealed since last ten years...but why it is still flowing in the air?

The advancement of economic measurement observed by Premier is well done. But still looked over the actual causes of economic unequal distribution.

The actual causes are corruption, especially corruption committed by state officers, ministers, cabinets, parasites...

So please, my beloved premier, anti-corruption law is your iron-fist policy, triangle policy and win win policy, but why you pay less attention with it?

Look at many communist countries such as China and Vietnam, their leaders sacrificed themselves to abide by anti-corruption law for the benefits, prosperity and stability of their country and people...so why you are Cambodian leaders hesitate to sacrifice yourself?

TO Khmer Young from Old Khmer:
Your Blog should allow anonymous comments, in fact i read one of the excerpts about Doi Moi and the money money policy in Vietnam. Do you have any citation of sources? If you had any economic policy making sources from Vietnam that would be nice. I can that Vietnam is building their infrastructure from all sectors in their economy. From BBC news i heard about their industrial park just opened not so long ago.

Post5:48, FYI, there are many types
of Khmer here, but they like to
deceive the real Khmer as to who
they really are. "Khmer Young" is

Anon@8:24AM,
Congrats for such a wonderful display of your ignorance, your arrogance and most importantly your racism towards other Khmer. You must have been obviously born in the stable....what more can one say?

What HUN SEN said about land crabbing is nonsense. He affraid of lossing the upcomming election.

He himself and his group crabbibg people land. Why long time ago never said about this.

You (HUN SEN) absolutely be jailed when lossing power in the near future. Be cause you makes people misserable and cry every day.

Wrong, PM Hun Sen need not to
worry about any election because
the CPP will win it by a landslide.

As for the land grabbing issue, it
will soon to be history. We just
want to solve this issue in a
systematic step-by-step manner
without conflicting with our
economical development.

Sam Rainshit haven't got a clue
how to do this. We deligated the
work to him and he just threw in
the towel. What is a loser?

Calm down post12:59. The first step
would be to draft a plan of attack.
The second step would be to test
the plan in a small area. Then, the
third step would be to implement
the plan... . So you see, it is
a long process. No one can do this
overnight.
