King-Father: No "Royals" participated in Royal Crusade for Independence of Cambodia in 1952-1953

On February 5, 2007, The Cambodia Daily published article titled: "Sihanouk Says Royals Should Leave Politics" (Click here to read the full article). The article reported the reaction of Prince Thomico to King-Father's call for the Royal family members to leave politics:

"I don’t fight against the CPP," he said. "I fight against the regime which the CPP has built." Royals have achieved important political successes in recent history, such as national independence in 1953, he added."

As a footnote to the prince's reaction, King-Father wrote the following remarks in French and translated into English below:

Translated from French by Luc Sâr

It’s unbelievable!

Sirik Matak and other “Royals” betrayed the National Independence and shot down the Monarchy in 1970.

In 1952-1953, those who followed me during the Royal Crusade for the total Independence of Cambodia were Samdech Penn Nouth, Excellencies (from the [common] People) and men and women from the Small People [Ordinary Citizens].

They were not “Royals”. The like of Thomico should not distort History.

(Signed) Norodom Sihanouk

The roots of independence has started from Democratic Party created by Prince Sisowath Yuthavong, Mathematician married to a Swiss lady. He gathered all Khmer nationalists and those soldiers who fought for France in world warII to participate for independence. He wrote the constitution for Cambodia's independence. Prince Yuthevong died in 1947 two years after the war. Sihanouk erased history in 1930s, and 1940s. Every few people knew about it. Now old generations died with time;only him survived and now he could manipulates history as he wanted.

What? how can we give fools credit
for fighting but fail to get
independence? You are in the
wrong world, Dude. Those people
should be condemned for wasting
Khmers' bloods for nothing. Get it?

It's useless to listen to these non-sense message. I think to be fair and stop these princes jealous to each other, let change the constitution to do non-monarchy state. Prepare presidnetial election.

Prince Sisowath Yuthevong was a Fine Khmer with the others Khmer-Elites in those years . He was the founder of Democrat Party that Cambodia ever had before & after .
...If Sihanouk didn't destroy them,Cambodia today would be one of the prosperous country in Southeast Asia.
As the copycat, Hun Sen used the same strategy & trick to destroy all of Khmer-Patriot whom oppose
his ruling of Youn-Hanoi's domination.
