Long Rith, the son of late Cambodian general Lon Nol, who toppled former King Norodom Sihanouk in 1970, has launched his own political party called the Khmer Republican Party.

According to the party officials, the Khmer Republican party has received permission from the ministry of the interior and it plans to compete in the 2008 general elections.

The party's Secretary General, Nhean Preash says that the party adheres to democratic principles, respects the constitution and believes in constitutional monarchy. He says that Cambodian people love the monarchy, and that monarchy should prevail now. Should the people think monarchy is not the right regime in the future, then there should be an election, and the people can elect a royal family member if they wish.

Lon Rith was not present at the press conference Monday. Party officials say he was out of the country at the moment.

Front Sangkum Jatiniyum's president, prince Sisowath Thomico says it is unfair to compare Marshall Lon Nol and his son.

The wife of Lon Nol, the former Cambodian Prime Minister, and their teen-age son have been been fined and placed on probation after pleading guilty to child endangering, and two of the four children involved have been returned to their home.

Several other misdemeanor child abuse charges against Sovanna Nol, 37 years old, were dismissed yesterday by a Municipal Court judge, but Mrs. Nol was fined $300 and placed on probation for three years.

Rith Nol, the Nols's 18-year-old son, was fined $100 and placed on probation for one year after he pleaded guilty to a single child endangering charge involving his brothers and sisters.

The Nols were arrested Feb. 4 for inflicting cruel and inhuman corporal punishment on four of the family's eight children, two girls aged 6 and 8, and two boys, aged 13 and 15.

The two boys were currently at the Albert Sitton Home and their return to the family was still pending, officials said. The two girls were returned home by the court under a plea-bargaining arrangement.

Khmer should be working for our causes. United we stand, divided we fall. JV VII was our great emperor, but JV II was our greatest. Please revive his works. Let our country shine. Any individual who will oppose of our unity will be our nemesis. There are many heroes among our different parties (CPP-FUNCIPEC-SRS to name a few ), let them work for our country let share our good causes, let stop our nemesis to color our faces , let revive JV II dream of unity. Let KAMPUCHEA shine!!!
Any Khmer Chinese- Khmer Vietnamese-Khmer Thai- Khmer Laos have any comments? Will you joint the Khmer dream? (we were once conquering the East Asia as an empire and down below ZERO during Khmer Red regime) We can only rise now. Let make a difference!!!

Get the fuck out of here you stupid
vultures. You are not the one who
free Cambodia from the brutal Khmer
Rouge regime. Either this is
because you are a coward, or you
you wanted us to suffer until
none of us remained on this planet.
Thus, in either case, we neither
want cowards to run our country,
nor do we want people who love to
see us suffered to run our country.
Is that very hard to understand,
you brainless vultures?

The more smaller party we have the weaker the opposition going to be. I believe if we all unite as one force against this cruel SEE PEE PEE we would win them. It's not a good idea at all to form more political parties. Again its every citizen's rights to form one. However you need to put the national interest and the interest of the people before your personal ambition. What is good for the country? What is the best approach to win the election? We needn't give the ruling party anymore chance.
