Tieng Narith, the professor of Philosophy at the Buddhist Institute who was arrested last 05 September and charged with distribution of false information, will be sentenced next Wednesday by the Phnom Penh municipal court. Tieng Narith is accused of being the author of a book in which the prime minister and the country’s authorities are attacked with virulence. Those close to him blame his action on his mental troubles. “The doctor did not give us yet the result of his psychiatric expertise. But Tieng Narith told us that, in front of the court, he would declare that he is fully responsible of his assertions. He maintains that he wrote the book for the good of the Nation,” Hong Kim Soun, Tieng Narith’s lawyer, said.

No matter how much the intimidation, threat, horror, injustice, and killing the people in power impose and implement on regular people, consciencious Khmer and patriot khmer will not be submissive. I have not seen many books written in Khmer. Here, you could read books in English, French all your life and could never finish it. In Cambodia, everything is limited. If you a book about life which involve with politics, you are dead. Western scholars argued that Cambodians are lazy compared to their neighbours. Every fews books were published in 1930s and 1940s. Well, you know what happened to professor Teang Narith. I don't have to tell.
