Buddhist monks from around the world have formed a peace foundation in the name of Maha Ghosananda, the revered Cambodian monk who died in the US last week. The Mahaghosananda International Buddhist Peace Foundation will "honor and carry on the international Buddhist peace work" of the monk, a statement by the nascent organization said.

Ghosananda worked to rebuild Buddhism in Cambodia after the fall of the Khmer Rouge, and his peace-building efforts were awarded a Nobel Prize nomination.

Special services will be held in his honor March 24-March 25, March 31-April 1 and April 7-April 8 at the Triratanaram Buddhist Temple in North Chelmsford, Massachusetts.
