“The Cambodian people have always been grateful to the Vietnamese people’s valuable assistance, especially the help of Vietnamese volunteers” - Hun Sen, a man installed in power by the occupying communist Vietnamese army
(SGT-HCMC) Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet’s first visit to Cambodia is described as important since it will pave the way for the two countries to develop multifaceted cooperation.
Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni said at a meeting with President Triet in Phnom Penh on Tuesday that the three-day visit, which ends today, was an important event as it would open a new stage of development of bilateral cooperation.
They shared a common view of strengthening and developing the relationship between the two neighboring countries, agreeing that the traditional friendship between the two countries was invaluable.
It is contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world, the Vietnam News Agency reports.
President Triet reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of respect and willingness to develop its relations with neighboring countries, including Cambodia, and expressed his gratitude to the Cambodian King and his royal family, the government and people of Cambodia for their support to the Vietnamese people.
King Sihamoni accepted President Triet’s invitation to visit Vietnam next year.
President Triet also held separate talks with Senate President Chea Sim, National Assembly Chairman Heng Samrin and Prime Minister Hun Sen.
The Cambodian leaders spoke highly of President Triet’s visit, saying this showed the two countries’ determination to foster their comprehensive cooperation.
They appreciated the coordinated settlement of land border issues in the past and affirmed to go on with demarcation in order to complete the planting of land border markers by 2008, and toward delineating the two countries’ water areas with the aim of building a common borderline of peace and long-lasting stability.
The Cambodian leaders thanked Vietnam’s Party, State, Government and people for assisting the Cambodians to escape from genocide as well as helping reconstruct the country.
“The Cambodian people have always been grateful to the Vietnamese people’s valuable assistance, especially the help of Vietnamese volunteers,” Prime Minister Hun Sen said.
President Triet hailed the signing of a supplementary treaty regarding the 1985 border demarcation treaty and the planting of the first border marker at Ba Vet-Moc Bai as events of significant importance in the two countries’ histories, and called for concerted efforts to complete the border marker planting on time.
Yesterday he attended a Cambodia-Vietnam business forum in Phnom Penh, with about 300 businesses from the two countries taking part.

Saigon Times Daily speaking for Khmer? Khmer thanking the Viet? Go to hell you freaking pirate...!!!
Triet's new expansionism policy called Doi Moi to keep controling and influencing Cambodia through their installing CPP.
The CPP's leaders pay homages and gratitude to Triet, the representative of Vietnam's leaders who gave them opportunity to be rich and powerful in the present...
Vietnamese expansionism of Doi Moi policy is dangerous for Cambodia.
It is the hidden virus of death...
Ah Khvang is so happy to see his boss comes and visit him so he will give some more lands to thank his fucking Yuon.
ah choi marai hun shit always signs something away to the yuon every time they come to see him. they come to get from him, not the other way around. it has been the fucking habbit. you will see.
khmer knong srok
Ah Khmer-Yuon AngVeng Srok, this
is cambodia, not Vietnam. Shut the
Fuck UP, will ya?
Let Debate:
Khmer Rouge's trial in Cambodia is just a myth, a political oriented trial and an instrument of Vietnam to legitimize its invasion, influence and occupation in Cambodia. Or it is important to try few surviving KR cadres for people justice? Which one is more serious than? Or do we have other good solution?
The debate for our young generation and everybody would significantly focus on:
1. Which one is more important between the invasion of Vietnam and the ignorant leading of the KR in the past?
Tip:
- Present Cambodia situation, the Khmer Rouge (KR) is already powerless and dead...so all Khmers still happy with Vietnam's invasion in January 7, 1979-till now or revenge the dead KR regime between 1975-79?
Answer the question, please Khmer compatriots, especially young generaiton!
Who care about the dead of the
backstabers (SISOWAT Sarimatakis
People)?
And this has nothing to do with
Vietnam liberated all Khmer people
from the brutal Khmer Rouge.
Your theory of invation is only
correct in the textbook, where
you expect the liberator to pull
out, once the enemy is defeated.
In reality, you must stayed as
long as it take to ensure stability
of the country; otherwise, the
enemy will regroup to defeat
your mission. The US liberation of
Iraq is a great example to this.
While Saddam troops have been
defeated in month, the US is still
occupied Iraq years after.
6:13 PM
You are right that nowaday many USA's allies in Iraq are retreated, the world's community including Americans themselves call for USA's troops to retreat...so it is time for Cambodia now to push Vietnam's influence and installing party to stop their job in order to receive 100% liberty for Cambodian people.
More than this, USA's border is far away from Iraq that USA cannot legitimize their territory's expansionism there...
But look Vietnam's border and Khmer's, and look at the pages of Khmer history...more than half of Khmer land is plundered by Vietnam and river of Khmer blood have dedicated to protect land from Vietnam's invasion is tremendous.
Wake up if you are Khmer!
Well, there are no Viet soldiers
with bazooka, tanks, helicopter,...
in Cambodia, nothing more than
the usual spies, just like CIA.
So, Vietnam is far ahead of the
US in term of troops in Cambodia.
The US, on the other hand, instead
of reducing troops, they seem to
add more and more troops. So, maybe
you should take sometime to bark
at the US, okay?
As for border, Iraq needs not be
connected to the US for it to have
the right to occupied it and ruled
it as the UK once did. Plus, the
east needs not to be similar to the
west. Hence, it is useless to
compare, and stop try to clone
the world, will ya?
Eh 3:42 AM. I sincere hope you have a little intelligence in your head before you made a stupid argument.
You keep bragging too much, but you didn't learn from the roots/sources.
For just to kill the whole Vietnam was easily but there're ~ 3 million innocence Yuan died or more. There're not Yuan alone but Chinese, Soviet, Cuban, North Korean but mainly Soviet troops paid by Soviet since Stalin was in power. If you are too dumb then find the facts instead of bragging from Yuan propaganda program.
At that time we were about to wipe out the whole Kingdom of Yuan but we decided to pull out b/c our people were not happy with the war.
