In Battambang province, the Maung Russei district police authority is accusing SRP officials of claiming a dead body as one of their own members for political gain.
It the last 5 days, the killer of a family member of a CPP activist in Maung Russei district has not been found yet.
The killing which took place last Wednesday, took the life of a woman, and her husband was injured. Observers believe that this is the very first time that a CPP member has been murdered during an election campaign.
At the beginning, an official of the Sam Rainsy Party told some reporters that it was a killing of one opposition party member. However, later on, a SRP high-ranking party official issued a disclaimer.
Until Saturday, CPP officials have not issued any official statement about the cause of death of one its party members.
The murder of a member of a CPP family in Ta Noang village, Ta Loas commune, Maung Russei district, Battambang province, which took place last Wednesday, led to a publications by local newspapers which reported the words of the Maung Russei district police commissioner who said that the dispute over the party affiliation of a dead CPP activist was perpetrated for political reason by the SRP.
This accusation was made following the declaration made by Yim Sokhorn, the daughter of Chhum San, the dead victim, claiming that she was sweet-talked by the SRP to tell reporters that the murder occurred after she returned back from attending the election campaign procession organized by the SRP. She said that, in reality, she was just returning back from participating at a regular celebration at the pagoda.
Yim Sokhorn’s latest declaration contradicts with the previous claim she provided to reporters and human rights officials who visited the incident location.
RFA’s Lim Pisith who had followed this story from the beginning, is providing the latest report regarding whether Ms. Yim Sokhorn did participate in the SRP procession or not.
Lim Pisith: According to our research since 23 March until now, we could not find out about her participation in the SRP procession. I contacted the SRP office in Maung Russei district, and the SRP commune office, but we were told that they are not certain. So I visited the location and met with So Vin, a local SRP representative, and the local Adhoc representative. They both said she did not participate in the SRP procession because a tuk-tuk could only carry 12 persons and furthermore, she was not much involved with the SRP, this corroborates with the claim made by the local police. Up until now, there is no confirmation about Yim Sokhorn’s participation in at a SRP political rally held at the Russei pagoda.
Mayarith: You traveled to Russei pagoda to find out if anybody saw her at the meeting in the pagoda during the time of the incident?
Lim Pisith: I asked several people, but nobody saw her, therefore up to now, there is nobody who can confirm that she participated in the meeting.
Up until last Saturday, the opposition party had not provided any additional comment on this story, with the exception made by SRP MP Eng Chhay Eang who said that this murder was perpetrated on an ordinary citizen who is not involved with any political party.

Oh come on Hun Sen!!! stop your fairy tale. Who is going to believe you ha? you know who did this? no one is very cruel like you (Brute).You have no mercy for anyone. You can just do anything as long as to keep you in power... i guess you might be brave enough to do kill your own family for your bloody stupid power. One cannot change mind once he/she decided to be a communist partisant.
Sihanouk, Hun Sen and all their clique who chose communist above their national honor cannot and will not change their mind. Their bosses will kill them if they would. And, they are cowards against foreigners bosses.

always cheated. They love to accuse
people, and they always failed to
provide a single proof. How many
times have we heard them blamed
the CPP for the killing in the last
three months or so? and how many
proofs has they gotten? None, Zero,
Zippo, ..., Nada.
