Letter of Ambassador Julio Jeldres addressed to King-Father

Historical Words

Ambassador Julio A. Jeldres
Official Biographer of H.M. the King Father Samdech Preah
Upayuvareach Norodom Sihanouk of Cambodia

Melbourne, 2nd March 2007

His Majesty the King Father
Samdech Preah Upayuvareach
NORODOM SIHANOUK of Cambodia
Royal Residence
PEKING, China

Your Majesty,

I was disturbed to read Your Majesty’s Press Release of last night announcing that the esteemed BMD and Your website will no longer have any historical, political or press related texts because they may upset certain people.

May I respectfully suggest to Your Majesty that as a historian myself, I find Your Majesty’s daily texts with Your esteemed annotations part of the contemporary history of Cambodia and extremely important. I also feel that Your Majesty, as the Leading Historian Cambodia has produced, is making a significant and historic service to new generations of Cambodians of both sexes, by publishing these texts, memoirs or press articles with Your Majesty’s considerate comments more than often full of wisdom.

Without Your Majesty’s comments and guidance the new generations of Cambodians will not be able to learn more of the past, of Your struggles for independence against imperialism and against neo-colonialism and will not learn from the inspiring example given by Your Majesty as Father of the Cambodian Nation.

I would respectfully request that Your Majesty reconsiders last night’s decision and continues to publish all these texts otherwise new generations of Cambodians will only be left with the “histories of Cambodia” written by Milton Osborne, Charles Meyer and other anti-Sihanouk foreigners for their learning.

May I respectfully add that while the British monarchy has adopted the ancient motto of “Never explain, never complaint”, it is also true that a majority of British citizens are very critical of this attitude of the British monarchy because it lacks communication with its people and this was shown, particularly, after the untimely death of the Princess of Wales.

I am enclosing two excerpts from the newly published memoirs of Mr. Wilfred Burchett, which I recently purchased here in Australia. I will send other pages of the book related to Cambodia and to Your Majesty by air mail.

With my affectionate regards to Her Majesty The Queen Mother and Your Majesty and my profound respect and admiration.

(Julio A. Jeldres)

How old is grand pa? I think that we should let our elderly alone. If we were to compare him to other Cambodian leaders after the French left the country in 1953, he could not be worst than Lon Nol, Heng Sam Rin, Hun Sen or Pol Pot. The generation of baby boomers enjoyed two decades of peace under his reign. Undoubtedly, it was a very fragile peace, but compared to Vietnam or Laos at that time, we were really in Island of peace. Unfortunately, it lasted only two decades. Before 1970, Cambodia was at the same footing with her neighbours. We won Prasath Preah Vihear back and we asked the countries around us to recognize our sovereignty and territorial integrity. And we had our Independence Monument. Pol Pot didn’t dare to touch it. It still there today even if Hun Sen has built something else in front of the National Assembly that we can not be proud of. Like it or not, the monument designed by our architect Vann Molyvan will continue to stand there when grand pa will not be here anymore. You got to love some one or prefer someone. You can not hate every one amongst our leaders

The great words of Samdech Choun Nath:

All Khmers, please remember the root and history of our great country
Our boundary was wide and well known
Others always thought highly of our race
And always placed our race as the elders.

We have great heritage and culture
Which has spread far and wide in the Far East.
Religion, arts and education,
Music, philosophy and strategies are all that we have spread.

All Khmers, please remember our roots and history
Which speaks of the grandeur of our great race
Make up your mind and body and try hard to rebuild
In order to lift the value of our nation
To once again rise to the greatness that we once had.

Hello Mr Jeldres! THe majority of Cambodian victims of KR wouldn't to learn anything from this monster King. We have our good record which is based on true fact and more importnatly we have lived with these period of suffering history caused by monster Sihanouk. Enough is enough! We don't want to hear this fake story from Sihanouk who wanted to stay out from his crimes of the Cambodian history created by him.

He may good in 1950 and 60, but he is suck now!

Jeldes should not worry about HM because soon He will be back making all sorts of comments, sometimes to the detriment of Khmer as a whole. He is in some sort of coma at the comewnt as He doesn't seem to know what he is talking about. Or he has been doing it for over half a century.

Xihanuk is still insane....cuz he had a lot hopeless advisers like
Ek Oukdom Jeldres who is a Khmer Royal Ambassador without Border.
He was an ex Chilian refugee and he though he had more right than the other refugees in Australia.

Largo Vive Embajador de Excelencia Jeldres sin la Frontera!

Largo Vive al Rey de Camboya!

1)Those who can, do.
2)Those who can't, teach.
3)Those who can't accept the truth, fabricate.
Norodom Sihanouk and Mr. Jeldres are in this 3rd category. I agree that there are some grains of truth in their writing, but the twisted facts and denials of real historical values are so overwhelming that it is so hard to make any sense out of the words coming from their mouths. I hope that history will judge them harshly for twisting the truth to serve their selfish, egoistic interest.

The king did give a good few decades of good times. But his appetite for total power is what drive him or any other power hungry monkies insane. Eventually it lead him to his down fall. So let him continue to write, it gives us some insights into what goes on in his mind.

Have you heard of the disease called dementia? that's what Sihanouk has. He has lost his short term memory. He could not remember what he said or commented few second earlier.

Majority of Cambodia people do not want to be part of Sihanoukist regime. They don't want any monarchy family in our beloved country anymore. It wastes of Cambodia tax payers who feed them free and do nothing good to the country.

Mr. Jose! What makes you think Sihanouk do a good deed to Cambodia even I was born in early 60 until now and even I don't have much of education in Cambodia history. I can tell you that no Cambodia leaders are good at all until this present time. Those Khmer leaders make Cambodia smaller and smaller. They only serve their master like China and Viet Cong.

Every time I read Sihanouk's articles. He only joked around and never concerned about Cambodia people and its country. Even my young children are doing much better than these Khmer stupid leaders that don't know people suffering.

Hope Mr. Sam Rainsy wins the election in 2008 and helps Khmer Kampuchea Krom to fight back the Prey Norkor from Youn.

All Khmers need to support Khmer Krom people. Go to watch photos at www.khmerkrom.org and www.Khmer krom radio.com to see how they live and practice Khmer tradition. They're much better than Khmer Kandal.

Who the hell is julio A.JELDRES ?He should call Sihanouk ; your majesty the king of vietcong that will make a lot of sense.

Stop publishing statements by or about Sihanouk. He brought all this evil on Cambodia. Before he was wily, now he is senile and must have lost his marbles, as his announcement to stop publishing comments on his website and the subsequent retraction one day later show. To continue giving him an additional forum on KI-Media means perpetuating his legacy, which is dire to begin with. The young generation, and that is the majority in Cambodia now, don't want to hear about him anyway.

An educated Khmer in Cambodia

Great King and Priness( Samdach Oev/Samdach Mer) is boring with his retirement, I think he should produce Fils/movies to compete with Holly wood stars/or Machael Jackson.
