“Anti-Sisowath?”

“Anti-Sisowath?”

Some “Senior Princes” of the “SISOWATH Branch” accuse me of being an “anti-Sisowath NORODOM.” An extremely unfair accusation.

1- A lot of “SISOWATH blood” flow in my veins.

H.M. my Revered Maman (Preah SISOWATH KOSSAMAK) was the favorite daughter of H.M. King Preah SISOWATH MONIVONG.

2- I was the favorite Grandson of H.M. King Preah SISOWATH MONIVONG, he granted me a privilege which he never granted to any other of his other grandchildren: that to dine face-to-face with Him from time to time, at the Khemarin [palace] (Phnom Penh) or in his royal House in Trapeang Chong (Pursat Province).

3- H.M. Preah SISOWATH, then very old, told my Maman (his favorite granddaughter to bring with Her, her little boy Sihanouk (nicknamed “Thol,” given by H.M. Preah Sisowath Monivong) each time She (Preah Sisowath Kossamak) come to salute him at the Royal Palace.

And H.M. Preah SISOWATH patted me very affectionately, and gave me a lot of silver coins each time that I went to salute Him with my Maman.

Under these conditions and with such souvenirs, how can I be “anti-Sisowath”??

(Signed) Norodom Sihanouk

Your Highess (Somdach Euv),
respectfully, we thank you for
sharing the truth with us. However,
we are still concerned with the
future of our country. Have you or
any member of your family reassured
the public that what happened in
1970 will never ever happened
again?

You are asking the right question to the wrong person. His time of rule is over. The only people who assure Cambodia would never go through that again are the current leaders of the country. Do you have faith that they can assure Khmer won't go through that again with all these things they 're doing?

Convictions of innocents as scapegoats, force evictions of landholders to development, redistribution of community resources for foreign companies, depletion of natural resources, and intimidations of citizens of opposing conscious, whether they be politically linked or not?

Good question, asked wrong person in wrong time frame.

True, but I just wanted
reassurance that the Royalist will
not be involved in any future
khmer catastrophies anymore. It
will be nice if they disclosed to
us some of the steps that they are
taken to stay out of any future
catastophies. I mean something
that is caused by they own people,
not them against foreigners.
Otherwise, our future will be
cloudy and worrisome.

I tell you, if the Khmer Rouge
massacre is something that the
people did, we will find ways
to prevent its reoccurences, but
when the Royalist causing the
castastrophy, we can't do anything
for them except to abolish them
all, but that is a bit overdoing
it. Thus, the best thing will be
to have them find a way to prevent
the same thing from repeating
again. What so unfair about that?
Moreover, it is good for them too.

Obviously, they need to have their
own court or something to help
resolve or mediate all their
disputes because I don't think
they can ever live peacefully
together without creating war
among themselves and using us as
shield against their ammunitions.
I don't mind seeing them
continueing to serve the people,
become PM, deputy PM, or what
have you, but unless there is a
mean in place to stop them from
wagering war against each other,
that will not be possible.
