The Court of Appeals delayed a hearing Friday for two men who rights groups say were unjustly convicted of killing a labor activist, casting more doubt on whether further investigation will ever take place.

Chea Vichea, an outspoken leader of a Cambodian labor union, was shot dead in January 2006, and Sok Sam Oeun and Born Samnang were arrested one week later.

The two men appeared at the Appeals Court, where Judge Saly Theara delayed the sentencing until April 12.

The two were convicted without witnesses or forensic evidence linking them to the murder, rights officials say.

Chum Sovannaly, defense for the men, said the hearing's postponement proved there was not enough evidence in the case.

Weeping, shouting family members of the arrested men called on the King Norodom Sihamoni and Prime Minister Hun Sen to show the men mercy.

"Today it is not decided yet," Born Samnang's mother said. "I hope my son will be free because I know he is not a killer."

These two innocense people should be released with compensations. They have been arrested for the scapegoat of political motivated agenda. Each of them should be recompensated at least $US 10,000.00 each. In a democratic country, these two guy will be released with at least $US one millions dollars each. Not their fault. And people like Hok Lundy should be sacked for good for irresponsibility.

No problem, but where is your
proof that they are innocent?

and where was the proof that tey are guilty ? judge hing thirith already threw out the case initially due to =absence of evidence. the day it happened the two men were not even near the murder scence.

Well, if you want proof that they
are guilty, you need to acquire
the trial's transcript for that
because it not my duty to look
out for any evidence for any trial.

As for Hing Thirith threw out the
case earlier, I am not familiar
with that decision. Where did you
got that from?

oh gosh, you chose to belive the forced confession imposed by heng pov on the rder from his top boss. on hingthirith, sad to hear you missed the important bit. poor thirit now unemployed since that case. he tried to be fair but hun sen told him off. thirit basically an outcast now, nothing to do. porr man.

man, you go and learn more about it. a while now, people tend to forget the original story. you are playing into the mafia court as many cpp cows do as theyndon't want to know the truth and use their brain to think.

Come on, dude, let's be on the
level here, shall we. I like to
know where did you learn this
story from. Is this one of KI Media Exclusive story? Let me see
the source, and I will let you
know if I'll go along with it. I
am not a roumors fan, do you know
what I mean?

Aside from that, if you got proof
of their innocent, why are you so
reluctant to put forth before us
here? Don't you know, the more
you game you play, the worse your
credibility will be?

Alright post some up, and let me
take a stab at it. Even better,
if you got BBC or Reuter. Usually,
they never missed these type of
cases.
