THE Cambodian Orphanage Fund is holding a national concert tour featuring some of Cambodia's most well known singers to raise funds to provide educational scholarships to orphans in Cambodia.

The concert will be held as part of the upcoming launch of the Cambodian Orphanage Fund in conjunction with Cambodian New Year 2007 celebrations.

The Sydney event will be held at the Monte Carlo Reception, Fairfield on Saturday, April 8, at 6.30pm.

Singers include Suos Sangveacha, Chhuon Sovannchhai, Chhay Kosol and Chhuon Srey Mao.

The aim is to raise funds to provide educational scholarships to orphans in Cambodia with Khmer and Kampuchea Krom backgrounds who are being cared for by locally registered orphanage centres in Cambodia.

President of the Cambodian Orphanage Fund Sawathey Ek said they are raising funds in Sydney, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland.

''Our aim is to raise about $30,000 so the children of Cambodia can go to university,'' Mr Ek said.

''We had a concert in Adelaide last Saturday and raised $300 through donations, so that was a great result.''

The event is at the Monte Carlo Reception, Spencer Street, Fairfield on April 8 at 6.30pm. Tickets are $40.
