National Police Chief General Hok Lundy has been granted a US visa, but instead of attending an anti-crime conference in Las Vegas, he told VOA, he will meet with officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Hok Lundy was denied a visa last year for "confusing allegations" linked to human trafficking, the police general has said.
Hok Lundy will lead a delegation to Washington, DC, April 19, and his visa has been cleared, Hok Lundy's deputy, Lt. Gen. Sok Phal, told VOA Monday.
Hok Lundy will discuss terrorism and enhanced cooperation between Cambodia and the US. His meeting comes after a thaw in relations between Cambodia and the US.
Meanwhile, two other Cambodian police will attend an anti-crime conference in Las Vegas this week: Brig. Gen. Bith Kim Hong, anti-terrorism department chief; and Brig. Gen. Keo Van Than, first deputy chief of the Cambodian police Interpol department.
