National Police Chief Hok Lundy began a series of meetings Monday with US officials on counterterrorism and trafficking of drugs and humans, officials said.
The visit has been heavily criticized by rights groups who say Hok Lundy is involved in trafficking and murder and orchestrated the 1997 grenade attack on opposition demonstrators.
Hok Lundy has said he will meet with officials from the departments of State and Justice, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
A State Department official said Hok Lundy was scheduled for talks with State officials Tuesday.
