On Thursday morning, Sar Kheng, the Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, sent a letter asking Kem Sokha to fill out the formalities and clauses as specified in Article 20, Section 5 of the law for the formation of political parties so that his Human Rights Party can become valid.

Kem Sokha who is currently visiting the US and Canada, told RFA, that he has prepared all the paper works for the formation of the Human Rights Party which he is the founder.

Kem Sokha said: “We have prepared everything already, while waiting for an answer from the Ministry of Interior, we cannot yet show our active members. With this reply, we can now show that we now have 4,000 active members, and we are including others as we go along.”

According to a source from the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the MoI already agreed for Kem Sokha to form the Human Rights Party (HRP).

According to a document received by RFA, HRP’s logo consists of a full moon with a sky blue background.

Kem Sokha declared that HRP will prepare its bylaw by limiting the tenure of the party president to only 2 terms.

He said that this should set a precedent for the leadership of Cambodia where in the past, party presidents and prime ministers could hold to their position for more than 2 terms.

There is no change in the land.
Don't start that shit again, Dude.

Anyhow, who care about the name,
I hope Sokha can bring in some
jobs from the US or Canada to kick
off his party. I think he can
easily defeat SRP in the 2008's if
he managed that. He won't defeat
the CPP yet, but he will become
the main party to reckon with.
