Singapore - Enhancements to a database that pools intelligence on wanted criminals will be the focus of a meeting of ASEAN police chiefs in Singapore, officials said Thursday.
Nearly 400 delegates from the Association of South-East Asian Nations are scheduled to participate in the June 2-7 conference.
Charting the progress of the electronic database system will be a priority, said senior assistant police commissioner Tan Puay Kern.
Other topics to be discussed include terrorism, cyber-crime and drug trafficking.
The conference provides a platform for discussion of enforcement issues affecting the region and helps foster cooperation between the different police forces.
ASEAN includes Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brunei, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar (Burma).
