To Hun Sen, holding democratic village chief election is an act of secession

Hun Sen Warns Opposition Not to Hold Separate Elections

Chun Sakada, VOA Khmer
Original report from Phnom Penh
23/04/2007

Prime Minister Hun Sen Monday called Sam Rainsy Party plans to hold separate elections for commune council posts a potential act of secession and warned the opposition party not to proceed illegally.

Opposition leader Sam Rainsy said last week he planned to hold local-level elections in communes where his party won seats in commune elections April 1.

"I heard they want to hold an election," Hun Sen said in a speech during an opening ceremony at a school in Phnom Penh. "Do they want a secession? How many states does Cambodia have?"

Party officials said the plan was legal, not secessionist.

Yep, that is an excellent point.

This animal Hun sen is an idiot. He doesn't understand the rule of democracy system. In reality, all the commune elected chef do not need to listen to him at all even those who are CPP affiliated because they were elected by people and not appointed by Hun Sen. Hun Sen must stay aways from their affairs otherwise he can go to hell. We need to have more media to criticise him for ignorance to humilliate him of his ignorance. Go to hell ah Hun Sen !!!!

Why CCP is really afraid of the process of recruiting village chief by villagers? It is a good start with small communes but it is a big threat to CPP.

Who dare to attack Khmer Buddhist monk, either they are from mainland Kampuchea or from Kampuchea Krom? Not real khmer people even among the police forces. You must know that Vietnamese agents have infiltrated our police and armed forces since the time of vietnamese occupation. You can see in Phnom Penh that most of the police officers wearing normal or anti riot uniform and gun speak vietnamese when they got their daily pho breakfast in restaurant...you must know that vietnamese agents have infiltrated the pagodas and monks in Cambodia as imaged by the 6 monks who came to provok the pacific demonstartion.
Cambodia has around 14 000 000. Among this number how many millions of vietnamese? Some estimate minimum of 5 000 000. I would rather say 8 000 000. This is the only way to new colonization and it will work at long term if we don't move our ass.
To those who doubt: this is not paranioa, this is the real truth. All the patriots warriors and leader were assinated during the battle of Pailin and finished at the July 97 coup. All the only capable real khmers leaders from the Son San army assassinated. Now who stay to protect the khmer people from vietnamisation? Before we had the khmer rouge and Son San's Army to prevent that. Now no more...What is the hope? Do we have any choice? Slow vietnamisation would be better than khmer fighting each other , so that peace will finally arrive to Cambodia once absorbed by another country? What Khmer overseas can do for that execpt cry on their own misery or just bla bla without action? We can not count on the Monarchy, vietnamised since the fall of Angkor Wat. We can not count on our actual government who is selling the remaining land of Kampuchea to foreign country and who are themselves khmer rouge vietnamized. Who will be our nation savior? our new Jayavarman to save the khmer nation? What is the better choice? A new fight to preserve the independance of our country or the slow vietnamisation which means a stability at middle term?

Village chiefs, 50-house group chiefs amd 10-house group chiefs are more instruments of control of the police state, rather than servants of the people. They are abolished the better. Commone officials can serve or can be made to serve the people better. Give them the resources and the expertise, and theynwill do it.

Our prime minister Hun Sen's response to Excellency Sam Rainsy's proposal fo elected village chiefs reflects our ingrained extremism which is contrary to the Buddhist teaching of moderation, tolerance, loving kindness, compassion, etc...

We could hope to be better when our "strong man of Cambodia" can change or be made to change into our "statesman of Cambodia" well endowed with statesmanship (stamanship means wisdom in the management of public affairs.

Our prime minister can change himself from being currently a "strong man" to being a "statesman." We should give all our help and support to him in this transition. However, Italian political philosopher Niccolo Machiavelli said that the wisdom of the prince depends on his own wisdom and not the wisdom of his advisors. A wise prince would choose wise advisors. An unwise prince would choose unwise advisors. We should not blame their advisors if our rulers are unwise or their actions are extreme.

I dissagree, Dr. Lao, while I
agree with Sam Rainsy proposal
sometime down the future,
currently, I preferred to support
the Prime Misnister because he's
more khmer and know what's good
for khmer than anyone else on
this planet.

Hey Ah Monsieu Samdech fake Hun one eye Khviv. Don't expect to high about ruling Cambodia until you are 99yrs. One day in the very near future, you are really going to die by your fucking cancer, that's true because you are such a fucking chain smoking. Every leader in the world knows that, your motherfuckers!!!

True, but everyone also know that
somdach Hun Sen also have the best
doctors money can buy on his side.
Thus, don't hope for too much.
Okay, mate?

Hello Lork Pov Dr.Loa,

It is great to have you commended in this. Actually, i like reading this too much, but rarely have comments coz it is much to say, so not say.

Hope that most educated Cambodian including current high ranking gov officers have read all these too.

I see there are alot of high risks that our country become the tool of another, if current government has not been made as revolution.

I doubt that most of them very rich already, but don they now thinking about nation, religious, culture, and humanity.

Anyway, believe that they will have seft-awareness, otherwise died when old, and still hope that next negeration will expose their knowledge to thier country.

Mr.9:18AM

Thanks for reading my comment though we agree to disagree. But I would appreciate having the reasons behind your disagreement. It would be a good exercise and create a new habit of giving reasons for one's decision.

Mr.12:00PM

I suspect some of those people in power who are now rich, as in 1979 all were equally poor, have amassed such wealth through abuse of power more than though any productive work. This kind of wealth is one of the seven deadly sins Mahatma Gandhi had discovered. And sinners don't care much about their nation, religion, culture and humanity like you. I'm not so sure they have any nation.

Here are Gandhi's seven deadly sins for you to ponder:

1. Wealth without Work
2. Pleasure without Conscience
3. Science without Humanity
4. Knowledge without Character
5. Politics without Principle
6. Commerce without Morality
7. Worship without Sacrifice

A leadership guru, Stephen Covey, has detailed these seven deadly sins in his book Principled-Centered Leadership, chapter 7: Seven Deadly Sins.

You know the formula "win-win" which our prime minister Hun Sen has often used to solve conflicts is taken from Covey's leadership teaching.

Thank you very much Lork Pov Loa. U have teached me a lot.

I remember that, long time ago while i was a first year university student, i was aware that u stood for post in Election Committee??? as the reprentative from NGO, but unfortunately u lost to Mr.Chea Chamreun. Actually, i really wanted u to pass that post, but no way to survive. U know Mr Chamreun now, he is running the university which grant of the degree to high ranking government officers. I doubt if is it 10%quality education.

Anyway, most of us still praise u and recongnize ur knowledge and experiences. Ur name is going to keep in the respection of the next generation.

Thanks,
Mr.12:00pm

Dr. Lao, sorry that my reason was
unclear in post 9:18. That is
because, we have 2 men raising
good arguments, and in such a case,
I chose the one with the most
credibility and the one who know
the real khmer more then anyone
else, and that is somdach Hun Sen.
Come on, take a good look:
what does Sam Rainsy know about
Khmer or what Khmer really want.
He only put westerner's words in
their mouths. Hardly any khmers
know what he's talking about half
of the time... . Need I say more?

Mr.4:35PM,

It is very questionable that a single person can know all about his country. If a person had all the monopoly of knoweledge and truth about his or her country and then rules it, that person would be very dangerous. Stalin and Hitler made that kind of claim about their respective countries, the Soviet Union and Germany. Our August King Sihanouk made the same claim when he ruled Cambodia.

And you know dictators monopolise the love for their countries and no one else can love their countries as much as them. Check with the history of the world.

I believe that the following traditional Khmer wisdom is alawys correct: cheh aeng oy kreng cheh ke. Wouldn't you think it was good for a country to have more people who could know about their country, even more than the ruler(s)? In all countries sometimes scholars know more than their rulers and these rulers actively promote scholarship or erudition. All die, but erudition, scholarship and knwoledge live on through the education of younger generations. Sometimes these young geenerations add more erudition, schoolarship and knowledge, and then on and on from grneration to generation. This in one way how humankind has progressed.

Dr. Lao, there are significant
difference between Somdach Hun Sen
and Hitler: he's friendly with
everyone, communist or not make no
difference. I can't think of an
enemy of Cambodia at the moment.
Can you?.

Your assumption and generalization
about leaders are not correct.

Of course there are a lot real
Khmers who know about Khmers.
Anyway, why do you assumed that
Hun Sen Raised this argument by
himself. Don't you think he had
consulted with his cabinet and
lawyers first?

As for scholar know more than
rulers that is possible, but
Einstein only comes once in the
blue moon, and even if he don't
get to rule the country, the world
aint gonna collapsed.

And I dissagree with your theory
about how humankind has
progressed. I am quite confident
that there are more than one way,
or two, or three, ..., or 25.

Anonymous said...

Mr.7:56PM

It did not say this was the only way, simply "one way how mankind has progressed."

We agree to disagree. Long live unity in diversity! But let's English Economist John Maynard Keynes enlighten us a bit further with his widely quoted remark that ideas, not power, rule the world: “The ideas of economists and political philosophers, both when they are right and when they are wrong, are more powerful than is commonly understood. Indeed the world is ruled by little else.”

Buddha's ideas rule hundreds of millions of people around the world. In Cambodia Buddhism is the state religion. Ideas of scholars of the age of enlightenment are still ruling the world today. Marx, Lenin amd Mao ruled a thousand or so of millions of people and killed perhaps a hundred millions of them. Their students in Cambodia killed altogether perhaps two millions or more of our fellow Cambodians. Pol Pot invented nothing new.

And Keynes continued:

"Practical men, who believe themselves to be quite exempt from any intellectual influences, are usually the slaves of some defunct economist. Madmen in authority, who hear voices in the air, are distilling their frenzy from some academic scribbler of a few years back... Sooner or later, it is ideas, not vested interests, which are dangerous for good or evil."

Mr.3:48PM

I was very glad to hear from though I could not recognise you. You remind me of our happy time together when you were a very keen student enjoying your studies. I'm very happy you have taken part in debates on this blog. I would encourage you to continue. You only get enlightened further by enlightening others.

Don't thank me for what you have gained by your own efforts. If I did anything for you, it was just my duty, the repayment of my debt to our society which had given me so much.

I'm happy for His Excellency Chea Chamroeun as his university has produced many rulers of Cambodia. I don't know about the quality of education there, but I should think it must very good when it has produced such able rulers.

Come to Hong Kong to stay with me. I can take care of your lodging and food. I have a room for a guests. Write to me at laomonghay@ahrchk.org

Best whishes.

Okay, sorry I misread you about
what you said about how mankind
has progressed, Dr. Lao. Admitely,
I have to move fast to cover many
ground as you probably have
noticed here, hehehe. Hesitate
not to point that out to me because
I expected that to happen from time
to time.

And yes, John Maynard Keynes' idea
is a true but hardly practical. It
only applied when you have a
problem and only one idea will
bail you out. However, that is
rarely the case. In the real world,
there are many ways and ideas to
bail us out of any problem, and
the one with power get to go first,
isn't that how it goes?

Okay, to be continue tomorrow.

I am dead.

Good evening to ya!
